May I ask you a personal question?
It’s Lauren, the media director here at SkyAngels and I wanted to
personally pop in here to share something with you!
I spent 5 years in college learning what I THOUGHT I wanted to do, and
the majority of my 20’s actually figuring out what that is...
And if I had to narrow down the three most important things I’ve taken
with me, they’d be:
1) Yourself and your health are above all the most important assets you have! Treat it as such, dedicate the time to take care of yourself
and don’t wait until it’s too late.
Whether it’s prioritizing routine doctor’s appointments, giving attention to your nutrition, or even just saying “no” to plans to get rest, pay attention to your health!
2) You don’t have time to waste!
I don’t mean wasting time sitting by the beach or sleeping in that
extra 15 minutes. I mean wasting time not enjoying your life! You
don’t have time to waste hating that job, or being in a bad
relationship, or compromising your needs.
3) Be honest, especially with yourself.
When you ask yourself the tough questions, you owe it to yourself to
be 100% honest. You wouldn’t lie to your mom or your best friend, so
why lie to yourself? Honesty is key to both lessons above.
Before figuring this out, and working a job I was miserable at but
thought was “secure” I thought most of what I’d need would come through using my degree because I paid for it and put in the time, and as it turns out, I spent SO MUCH TIME being unhappy.
As far as being a flight attendant goes, it’s really easy to let the
above lessons go and pass them off as not being important. We run
ourselves ragged, justify situations that aren’t right, and let many
aspects of self-care go to the wayside.
But in my experience, by holding true to these lessons, not only have
I gotten so much more out of this career, but I am HAPPY and it shows.
What important lessons are you learning these days, and from where?
