Watching him relax in a hammock, feeling the sand beneath him, without a single worry in the world….it felt so calming to see him at peace.

That’s the gift these vacations gave him.

10 years ago, my oldest son went through a very tough season. It impacted all of us in ways we didn’t expect. It shook his confidence and dulled his spark, and as his mom, my heart ached to help him feel safe and whole again.

Homeschooling and therapy gave him the time and space to begin healing, but our Family vacations did something extra special.

The first time we walked down Walt Disney World’s Main Street …after everything….I saw his eyes light up in a way I hadn’t seen in so long. Those little moments: Breakfast with Mickey, immersing himself within his beloved Star Wars obsession on Star Tours, raising his hands in the air on Big Thunder Mountain, and trying the grey stuff for the first time…. He was carefree and enjoying being a kid again. With every trip, I saw more and more of him come back, and those memories became the brightest part of our journey.

Now, as he approaches his 23rd birthday, he looks back on those vacations with so much gratitude. Our family travels didn’t take away the hard times, but they gave us something we desperately needed: joy, hope, and a little bit of extra magic. They played a hand in him finding himself again, and for that, I’ll always be thankful. These memories will forever hold a special place in my heart.

He stood at the counter, clutching his gift card in one hand and his carefully chosen hat in the other. His brows furrowed in concentration as he handed the card to the Cast Member, glancing back at me for reassurance but determined to handle this on his own.

The Cast Member smiled with the warmth only Disney Cast Members seem to possess. She leaned down to his level, explaining each step with patient kindness. She handed him the receipt, pointing out the remaining balance, and his face lit up with excitement as he realized he could still pick something else later.

Then came my favorite part: he stood there, holding that receipt like a treasure map, studying every number with a newfound sense of responsibility. In that moment, he wasn’t just buying a hat…he was learning, growing, and feeling so proud of himself.🥹💜

I just HAVE to tell you about this sweet trio. Three generations of amazing women who FINALLY took that girls’ trip to Hawaii they’d been dreaming of for years. Just the three of them. ✨

They told me afterward, "We wish we’d done this sooner!" But oh, did they make up for lost time! 😍

🌊 What did they do?
..Snorkeled with sea turtles 🐢..Learned to hula (and laughed A LOT) 💃..Sipped coconut drinks on the beach 🥥..Took sunset walks along the shore 🌅..Strung leis with a local elder 🌸..Chased waterfalls (literally) 🌴

I know, this deadline has been pushed back a few times, but it’s unlikely to be delayed again —so if you don’t have a REAL ID yet, now’s the perfect time to grab an appointment!

If your next adventure is around the corner and you’re feeling a little rushed, no worries—your passport will work just as well!
