Happy Halloween! As hard as those spooky viral social media posts and their AI-generated images might try to convince you, there have been no credible local reports of anyone purposely handing out drug-laced, needle-filled, or otherwise dangerous candy. We know that all parents will be carefully checking their kid's candy and all are welcome to call the NTPD if they find anything suspicious, however, we'd like to move on to what really scares us. On average, Halloween has a greater amount of pedestrian fatalities than almost any other day of the year (via NHTSA). Here are some tips to help prevent a Halloween tragedy:
•Make sure reflective strips are included in your kid's costume and give them a flashlight to carry for maximum visibility.
•Make sure any costumes, masks, and footwear fit well and won't block their vision or cause a fall.
•Check that any trick or treaters venturing out on their own have a cell phone and know how to dial 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency or any suspicious activity.
•Help plan their trail and make sure it doesn't include having to cross any highways or streets without marked crosswalks and traffic control.
•Check-in with your ghosts and ghouls throughout the night so you know where they are, and to make sure that they're home before curfew.
***Remember, all ghosts and ghouls under the age of 18 and unaccompanied by a parent must be off the streets between 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. on the 30th and the 31st.***
Have a safe and spooky Halloween!

Halloween & Mischief Night Curfew, Safety Tips
Happy Halloween! Before we get into our important safety tips for this weekend, please remember that the curfew is in effect for Wednesday, 10/30 and Thursday, 10/31. No ghosts or ghouls under the age of 18 are permitted out between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM tonight or tomorrow night without being accompanied by a parent or guardian.
As you're getting ready to hit the trick-or-treat trail this weekend, please check out these important safety tips for parents and kids alike, and keep in mind that crashes involving pedestrians are more frequent on Halloween than almost any other day of the year:
• Make sure reflective strips are included in your kid's costume and give them a flashlight to carry for maximum visibility.
• Check that all costumes, masks, and footwear fit well and won't block their vision or cause a fall.
• Make sure trick-or-treaters venturing out alone have a cell phone and know how to dial 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency or any suspicious activity.
• Help plan their trail, and make sure it doesn't include having to cross any highways or streets without marked crosswalks and traffic control.
• Remember that while there are no substantiated reports of anyone purposely handing out drug-laced or otherwise compromised candy, make sure your kids are only collecting commercially wrapped treats, nothing homemade or unwrapped.
Remember that the NTPD is available 24/7/365 by calling 9-1-1 for emergencies and (732) 988-8000 for non-emergency concerns. Please do not report crimes in progress or any other time-sensitive concerns using Facebook Messenger. Stay safe, and enjoy the holiday!

We are doing well in Ocean Grove. We wish the same for our friends and family affected by Winter Storm Stella.
Ocean Grove was founded in 1869 when a group of Methodist clergymen formed the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association to develop & operate a summer camp meeting site on the New Jersey seashore.
By the early 20th century, the popular Christian meeting ground became known as the “Queen of Religious Resorts.” The community's land is still owned by the camp meeting association and leased to individual homeowners & businesses.
Now, as New Jersey's finest year-round family seashore resort, this one square mile of natural beauty has welcomed & delighted vacationers for over a century.
On Ocean Grove's tree-lined streets is the largest assemblage of authentic Victorian architecture in the nation. In 1976, the town was entered in the National Register of Historic Places and, in 1977, the New Jersey State Register of Historic Places.
Though the population swells in the summer months, Ocean Grove is “open for business” 365 days a year, with over 3000 year-round residents.
The Ocean Grove Area Chamber of Commerce comprises more than 80 Ocean Grove businesses. We host numerous town-wide events & strive to promote the well-being of our residents, our businesses, and our visitors.
