HI, EVERYONE! Today I signed up for Master Class. With two incomplete books and one unfinished screenplay on my laptop, I have decided to seek further skill development and encouragement from an online learning source that features some of the best writers in their genre. I have been following Master Class for two years now by watching the trailers for each new class instructor. That said, we can learn how success is forged by anyone in any industry. For a few decades, I have my honed skills as a successful business writer from grants to investment proposals; copy writing to business plans. Living on the Long Beach peninsula in Washington State, a place that is rich in natural beauty, is a desert when it comes to seeking other writers for comradeship. With my new beginnings as an Airbnb owner, The Writer's Hearth behind me, I am ready to begin my next phase, starting a local writing group that will encourage, support and delve into the written word - Yours. It doesn't matter if you are just beginning that first novel, writing a memoir for your grandchildren, or simply want to move from the first to the second act of your next Broadway hit. If you wish to join me, we can meet online via SKYPE and in person, at my home in Ocean Park, the second and fourth Wednesday of each month beginning December 12th at 7:00 pm PST. Working remotely is convenient and you can do it from any device. I recognize that December is a busy month for everyone. So this first meeting will be an introductory time and laying down the ground rules for our meetings. We will introduce ourselves, collect emails, and brief profile information. Contact me through F/B to sign-up. At that time, you will be given my SKYPE contact information to access the group. Please pass this on. You never know, we may have another Charlotte Bronte in our midst.

Purchase through this invitation and you'll both get extensions on your subscriptions.

The Writer's Hearth News -The summer was busy, busy. We were full almost every weekend from May through September and full during the week from mid-July through September. Thank you to everyone for making The Writer's Hearth a first year success. Airbnb has designated us as SuperHost because of our great reviews. Check us out at Airbnb.com, The Writer's Hearth, Ocean Park, WA. We will take reservations for the summer months beginning in May.
Following the close of high season this past September, The Writer's Hearth was shut down for 10 days so that I could install a new laminate floor and cabinets. Living in a beach environment is lovely, but the sand and dust in the air is never ending. No matter how many times the carpet was cleaned during the summer, it was joyful when I removed the carpet and pad to haul them to the waste station.
I want our guests to feel that they are in a clean environment. To maintain the bathroom after, the surfaces and fixtures in the separate commode closet, tile floors, and 6' shower are cleaned with a hot water power steamer.
This past summer I encouraged guests to bring along their furry friends. Most local hotels limit guests' pets. Our guests have access to a food bowl, doggie bed, grain-free treats, and waste bags. Be sure to let me know if you are bringing pets. I ask that you are always present with them in the suite or in the yard. Barkley and Bronte welcome them also.

Thank you to our local Long Island peninsula chief who reflects on the human cost of immigration and its consequences. In the 18th c. Voltaire wrote, “History does not repeat itself. Man does.” Migration is the foundation for people to seek better lives in a safe place. Crushing innocents does not make us great. My ancestors arrived on the Mayflower to seek religious freedom and pursue a new life. They risked everything with this beginning. Immigrants become immigrants because they are looking at their future and the future for their children. They are not risking their lives for a joy ride.

A little dirt goes a long way. 6 cubic yards of dirt carried in my trusty wheelbarrow made short work of creating new planting areas. I recently completed laying the stone in photo #3 and repositioned the fire pit to create a new "garden room." 10,000 Irish Moss spores to "seed" between the stones are on the way. This newest garden area will make a perfect summer wedding stage.
