What is it about nice round numbers and clean slates that appeal to us as humans? We are conditioned to believe that something magical happens at midnight on January 1, allowing us to start over again from scratch.

Some years may bring minor adjustments toward our best selves. Other years may result in no changes at all. But some years … ah, some years result in a sea change of our thinking.
That’s what happened to me in 2013.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, is there a chance it’s been crying out for homeopathy?

Ask my oak tree.

One of the most consistent arguments against homeopathy is that there is so little of the original gross substance remaining in the diluted and potentized medicine that it must be functioning as a simple placebo.

Okay, here’s a question for those naysayers: If homeopathy is merely a placebo, then why does homeopathy act on plants that are incapable of expectation bias?

When I was a little girl, Christmas Eve was the one night a year when my parents weren’t strict. My huge Italian family came together at my aunt and uncle’s house to celebrate. After midnight mass, all the cousins — my brother and I included —were allowed to stay up for what seemed like all night long!

All. Night. Long.

I could barely keep my eyes open, but I was having such fun with my older cousins. So, by gosh, I was going to stay up with the big girls if it killed me!

The masters of homeopathy are the great minds who have written and documented their clinical experience over the last almost 230 years. Of course, the greatest master is Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, who discovered this gentle, powerful paradigm. But there are many more.

In today’s podcast, I’ll introduce you to Dr. James Compton Burnett. If you’re one of my Mighty Members, you’ll remember his book, which we read together in the Mighty Musings, “Fifty Reasons for Being a Homeopath,” published in 1888.

One of his stories from that book is especially poignant at this time of year. So, join me in discussing how Dr. Burnett — and I — would dislodge upper respiratory infections without antibiotics or over-the-counter medicaments.

Do you know what I find heartening, encouraging and validating? Many folks are utilizing homeopathy without even realizing it. Homeopathy is beginning — just beginning — to become ubiquitous in drug stores, and it’s a beautiful thing to see.

Now, I’m not saying drug stores carry the entire line of Boiron’s little tubes. But I bet you’ll be able to find Arnica montana just about anywhere you look.

Homeopathic Arnica montana is becoming ubiquitous in many circles.
