Burn Restriction
MONTESANO —Effective 12:01 A.M. Friday, July 15, 2022; With the recent trend of warm and dry weather, the Grays Harbor County Fire Marshal’s office and local Fire Districts will be enacting restrictions on outdoor burning in Grays Harbor County. This restriction includes residential yard waste and land clearing burning on a temporary basis until conditions moderate. All residential yard waste and land clearing burning are prohibited until further notice.
The use of charcoal briquettes and recreational campfires are allowed if built in improved barbeques, fire pits, or designated campgrounds, such as those typically found in the county, state parks, or commercial campgrounds.
On private land, campfires are permitted with the landowner’s permission if built in the following approved manner:
• The campfire shall be no greater than 3 feet in diameter and constructed of a ring of metal, stone, or brick 8-inches above the ground surface, with a 2-foot- wide area cleared down to exposed soil surrounding the outside of the pit.
• The campfire shall have an area at least 10 feet around it cleared of all flammable material and at least 20 feet of clearance from overhead flammable materials or fuels.
• The campfire must be attended at all times by a responsible person at least 16 years old with the ability to extinguish the fire with a shovel and a 5-gallon bucket of water or with a connected and charged water hose.
Completely extinguish campfires by pouring water or moist soil in them and stirring with a shovel until all parts are cool to the touch. The use of self-contained camp stoves is encouraged as an alternative.

I put together a calendar for June for activities happening at Hands On Children's Museum, Sensory Tool House, LLC, Seeds for Growth Community Center and of course autism acres. Next month will include the day camp through Thurston County Inclusion on Fridays! These are all sensory/special needs friendly activities and most are either free or under $10 per person! It was so nice to see that our kids used to have zero activities to do and now there is almost a full calendar. Autism Acres will also add some weekday play days once school is out and of course our youth nights which will tentatively start Saturday June 25th (pending a few projects) hope you all have an awesome summer!

As an employer of NBSD parents, students, and a supporter of the Booster Club and fundraisers, we want to express our sincere hope that the North Beach School District Board will act in the best interest of the students, community, and tax payers. "Settling" with the Superintendent by allowing him to resign after horrific "allegations", getting paid out a $185k contract, and allowing him indemnification is not worth the social message that will send. Any "alleged" cost savings will be at the cost of morality which is not something you can get back! It IS NOT ok to remove victim rights under any circumstance and this is a hill our administration and board should be willing to die on! We typically shy away from anything political on our page, however, we felt it important to explain our sign.

GOT DIRT???

The landslide on SR 109 just north of Hoquiam is looking good this morning. All that dirt is going to the former Hoquiam sewer lagoon off Airport Way (the same one which recently captured a felon attempting to escape Sgt Dayton on foot).

Making great process in getting the highway back open!

01/17/2021

SR 109 IS AGAIN CLOSED DUE TO A SLIDE!!!

We have units at the scene of a large slide on state Route 109 right at the Hoquiam city limits. The highway is currently completely blocked.

This is further west than the previous slides and estimate to re-open the highway is unknown at this time. It would appear this is just outside of the city limits of Hoquiam between Grays Harbor Blvd. and Broadway Hill.
