Happy St. Patrick’s Day 🍀🐳🍀 We saw our first BLUE Whale of the season yesterday!!! Someone pinch us! We couldn’t be more excited that we were able to see the largest animal ever to have lived on Earth—even bigger than the largest dinosaurs!
These whales can grow up to 100 feet long and weigh as much as 200 tons. Their heart alone can be the size of a small car, and their tongues can weigh as much as an elephant. Despite their massive size, they primarily feed on tiny shrimp-like creatures called krill. So cool!

Sound on 🔊 for this one! Listen carefully for the beautiful noises the Dolphins are making.
🐬✨
Dolphins use echolocation (or biosonar) to navigate, hunt, and understand their surroundings. This ability allows them to “see” using sound, even in murky waters or complete darkness.
Dolphins produce a series of high-frequency clicks using their nasal passages, just below their blowhole. The dolphin’s brain processes the returning echoes to determine the size, shape, distance, speed, and even the texture of objects, such as fish, rocks, or other dolphins. Nature is just incredible!

Fin whales are the second-largest animals on Earth, after blue whales. 🐳✨🐳
They can grow up to 85 feet long and weigh up to 80 tons. Known as the “greyhounds of the sea,” fin whales are one of the fastest large whales, reaching speeds of up to 25 mph! They can live for 80–90 years, with some individuals reaching over 100 years.
Fin whales are found in all major oceans, from polar to tropical waters, but prefer temperate and polar regions. They are filter feeders, using baleen plates to strain krill, small fish, and squid from the water. They use a lunge-feeding technique, accelerating toward prey with their mouths open, engulfing massive amounts of water and food. A single adult can eat up to 4,000 pounds of food per day during peak feeding seasons.
