Family vacation with the Tagues! 🇮🇹✨They explored the wonders of Rome, marveled at the ancient ruins of Pompeii, and soaked in the beauty of Sorrento. Highlights included visiting the Vatican and the Colosseum in Rome, followed by a breathtaking Amalfi Coast tour and a delightful lemon farm experience in Sorrento. Memories to cherish forever! 🍋🌊

Charm: a trait that fascinates, allures, or delights

Paros has it. It moves at an enviably slow pace. It's a welcome addition to an itinerary that includes more bustling destinations like Santorini and Mykonos. Paros is a stop that may feel like a throw in while planning your trip, but ends up being a highlight.

It is a small island dotted with quaint whitewashed villages that seem like they are the backdrop of a romcom. But they are so much more. Zoom in and you'll find the true local feeling of Greece. You'll see fishing villages giving gravity to winding alleyways that are free of cars and full of local businesses, churches, and schools. You'll walk with no purpose to find bakeries and boutique shops where local artisans sell one of a kind items. You'll find amazing restaurants where the owners make you feel like family and their innate hospitality somehow makes a dinner that was planned to be an hour or so turn into 4. You'll end up meeting a family from the US that was quickly climbing the corporate ladder but moved here a few years ago to get away from it all. After about an hour of experiencing Paros, you might start to consider the same.

What to do:

🇬🇷 Soak up the culture and people watch while enjoying a glass of wine in the seaside village of Naousa and enjoy some shopping at local boutiques.

🇬🇷 Meet some locals. One example: The amazingly hospitable lady I'm pictured with above, opened up her home office to show her 3 generation family looming business. Hung in her living room turned showroom is a picture of the current owner's grandmother who started the business proudly holding her. She sells purses, rugs, and pillows to the local boutiques around the island.

From Athens, I took a quick 50-minute flight to Crete, landing at Heraklion Airport in Crete. Just an hour's drive away was Daios Cove, my gracious host for this segment of the journey. This stunning property, offers a premium all-inclusive meal plan that captivates with rich Mediterranean flavors. Beyond gastronomy, the resort has a ton of amenities—from a fully-equipped spa and tennis courts to a vibrant water sports center.

My exploration continued in Agios Nikolaos, a charming harbor town where I was joined by a local guide, courtesy of . This picturesque setting was perfect for our next stop: a site visit at the Minos Art Hotel, beautifully perched on the waterfront near Elounda. I shared a great meal there with the General Manager, Stratos, and their Experience Manager, Helena.

Crete is a treasure trove of activities. I spent an awesome morning immersed in an authentic olive oil experience, discovering ancient methods of cultivation and extraction right from the locals. I even had the chance to press my own olives—a truly hands-on encounter! We can tailor this experience with a cooking or pottery class based on your interests. Lunch offered a scenic view over the Plaka, gazing at the azure waters stretching towards Spinalonga Island—an easy boat ride away and a profound excursion to delve into its rich history.

The afternoon was a retreat into the extensive spa amenities at Daios Cove, capped off with a am incredible dinner at the hotel’s Ocean Restaurant.

On my departure day, I set sail from Heraklion Port aboard a ferry, bound for a 2-hour journey to the enchanting island of Santorini.

Day 1 was a blast!

We managed to make a 2.5 hour road trip into a 9 hour one. We took our time and had a blast driving down highway 1.

We filled the time with amazing views, food, breweries, shopping, singing in the car, and laughing so much our cheeks are sore.
