ITS OFFICIAL!!!!!! My route has been verified and my Elite Finisher status for the 2024 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge is official. It was an amazing ride and an even better experience. More important than how much fun I had is that I was able to raise right at $9,000 for FISH - Friends In Service of Heroes to stock food pantries on local military installations.

Took a break from catching up on work emails to check out my fleet tracker stats from the trip. Looks like the fleet tracker logged 9,479.92 miles with an average daily mileage of 861. My longest day was 1144.12 miles on Day 7 followed by a 1,018.64 mile day on Day 8. My shortest day was on Day 4 with only 554.53 miles but that also included 8 hours of waiting due to a bent rim on Robert Osley Saunooke bike. Was it all worth it? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

Many of you have noticed that I got a new riding jacket. Fatigue and mental mistakes are real things in a ride like this, and expensive riding gear does not mix with hot exhaust pipes. Klim stepped up big time with a huge discount and arranging expedited processing and overnight shipping for me to replace this but even at that it still cost me $900. Most of y’all care enough about me that if I was to ask for help to replace this important safety gear you would sacrifice something to step up and help me. Well I’m asking for help, not for myself but for the 24% of our service members who have concerns about where the food is going to come from. These men and women care about you in this country so much that they wrote a blank check for any amount up to an including their life. now they worry about where their or their families next to meal is going to come from. What will you sacrifice to show up for them? A cup of coffee from Starbucks? Starbucks for a week? Next beer at the bar? Any amount helps please donate now.

I am now less than 20 hours from go time. Making final preparations and watching the weather which appears to be doing its best to make this a CHALLENGE. If you would like to follow along with my journey there are links that show all riders as well as one that shows just me in the update on my fundraiser page. If you haven’t donated yet and are able to do so please help me stock food pantries to alleviate some of the stress on the 24% of our military families with food insecurities. Lastly, please share this fundraiser far and wide, help me blow my goal out of the water!!!!!

As I am busy making final preparations for what will no doubt be the most challenging motorcycle ride of my entire life the tracking links have finally been made available. They will not be active until sometime on the 29th and you won't see me until about noon on the 30th when I head towards Florida. I have added an upate to the fundraising page that includes the tracking links. Check it out:

14 Days and a wake-up till I head to Florida for the start of the most Epic motorcycle ride I can imagine, the 2024 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge. This ride will take me from Florida to Alaska across scenic backroads enduring massive temperature changes and everything Mother Nature has to offer as I sleep under the stars every night. It takes a special kind of crazy to do this ride, let alone look forward to it, but to me it’s a small price to pay to bring attention to the service men and women in our military that are facing food insecurities. Help me get them some relief and DONATE NOW to stock food pantries on military installations in’s KS and MO.

Such a powerful weekend. Nothing like a bunch of bad ass bikers coming from the far corners of the country to the middle of nowhere where Kansas to show their support for boys bravely fighting a medical war. Despite their troubles the boys consistently ignore their needs and look out for others. Like the rest of the Monsters, I am humbled by these Heroes.

Did you know that a helmet on the ground behind a motorcycle is the universal sign of distress?

I was riding a busy highway this past weekend and too late saw a motorcycle stopped on the shoulder of the road. Now I almost always stop and check on bikes (even if I'm in a cage) but in this case I just couldn't get over in time due to traffic. However, I did notice and recognize the universal sign of distress, the rider had placed their helmet on the ground about 30 feet behind their bike.

I took the next exit and headed back, pulling up behind the bike just as car had stopped to assist as well. Turns out the bike had died while going down the interstate. With three fairly mechanically inclided brains thinking and phoning friends for assistance we were able to diagnose and fix the issue and get the bike back on the road in about 30 minutes. As we were putting everything away to get back on the road another bike started to pull over (the helmet had been picked up by then) but we gave them a thumbs up and waved them off.

The concerning part to me is that the rider said they had been on the side of the road for over 20 minutes before I got there. Add the 30 minutes I was there to that and you have a motorcycle sitting on the side of the road for almost an hour. There were thousands of vehicles and dozens of bikes drove past in that time, and only three made any attempt to stop.

I hear a lot of excuses from people, especially riders, about why they don't stop to help people on the side of the road. Everyone has to make their own decision about what they are comfortable doing, but remember when a bike is sitting on the side of the road there is a rider with no protection from the elements (sun, wind, heat, cold, ect). You have no idea if their cell phone has service, or is even charged and with a broke down bike they may not have the ability to charge the phone. You might not have a mechanical mind, or tools, but I can almost guarantee you have the ability to provide some form of assistance and even if you don't what have you lost? A few minutes of your time?
