Today in 1978, the Piper PA-32-301 flew. The PA-32-301 was basically a Cherokee Six 300 with a newly designed Warrior wing. The aircraft was originally named Six 300 II and Turbo Six 300 II, but was eventually named the Saratoga and Turbo Saratoga. The aircraft featured fixed landing gear, Lycoming IO-540-K1G5 and a large cabin entry door.

Today in 1945, the Piper J5C Super Cruiser flew for the first time. It was powered by a Lycoming O-235-C engine that produced 100hp. The J5C was later changed to the PA-12.

Today in 2012, the Piper Archer LX took its first flight. The Piper Archer line is rich in heritage of the PA-28 line of aircraft.
