May 27 Beach open for general use following social distancing guidelines

Effective Wednesday, May 27th the beach will be open for general recreational use. All who use the beach are urgently advised to be respectful and considerate of others by following CDC social distancing guidelines.

Keep a minimum of 6’ away from other people not in your group.
Keep the number of people in any one group to 10 or less.

Be aware that the COVID-19 virus remains a serious threat to all, especially those who are in a higher risk category and that following social distancing guidelines is something each person can do to make positive a difference. Please do your part by walking to an area of the beach where you can set up your chair or towel at a safe distance from others.

From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic Old Orchard Beach has worked in close cooperation with the Town of Scarborough to manage the beach shared by the two Towns; and Pine Point Beach will also be open for general recreational use. As warmer weather has arrived the Town has sought to manage beach activity in consultation with other Southern Maine beach communities. A “walking beach” only policy was adopted on May 11 with the expectation that this would be reconsidered once other area beaches removed restrictions. As of this date beaches in Wells, Biddeford, and Kennebunkport are open to general public use.
