Day 5 of our Emerald Isle Beercation - Castle Night!

Tonight our beercationers spent a relaxing night at the Ballyseede Castle Hotel. Built in 1721 as a garrison for the Fitzgerald’s family, Earls of Desmond. The family were known for not swearing their allegiance to the crown, which resulted in wars known as the Geraldine Wars. These wars were fought for over three centuries, but came to an end with the beheading of Gerald, the 16th Earl, in the Demesne of Ballyseede, and his head was later showcased in a cage on London Bridge.

The castle along with 3000 acres was then later given on lease to Robert Blennerhassett, the lease being a that red rose be presented every year on Midsummer’s Day. The Blennerhassets then occupied the castle until 1966, over 400 years.

Tonight our beercationers were able to wander to 30 acres of grounds, and had a fantastic dinner in the castles Great Stone Hall. Some of them even participated in High Tea when the group arrived at the hotel.

Day 4 of our inaugural Emerald Isle Beercation and our beercationers took a day trip to the Aran Islands and the island of Inis Mór. On the ferry ride back we were lucky enought to be in Ireland when the ferries are able to take the route that goes past the Cliffs of Moher (April 22nd until November 1st)!

Always impressive, the cliffs are absolutely amazing when seen from sea level!

Yesterday we kicked off our first ever beercation to Ireland!

On day one of our Emerald Isle Beercation we started off with a welcome toast at Devitts Pub, had a walking tour with Dublin Tour Guide and finished the day with our Welcome Dinner at The Quays Bar, Temple Bar!

The 32 beercationers on the tour seem to already be enjoying themselves as we get ready for our 2nd day in Dublin!

We've visited Bastonge and the church where this beer run took place on both our Belgium & Germany & Holland... Oh My tour in 2019, and the Belgian Beercation in 2024, and will visit it again in June 2025 on our upcoming BeNeLux Beercation!

On Day 6 of our Czech It Out Again Beercation we visited the awesome small craft brewery Pivovar Obora. Founded in 2017, they are a full brewery and dairy farm!

We had a fantastic tour and tasting from one of the 3 brewers, and the beers were fantastic!!

Czech It Out Again Beercation Day 4

As the group left Prague for České Budějovice, we stopped ay Karlštejn Castle.

Built by King Charles IV, construction began in 1348, and at one time, it housed not only the Bohemian Royal Jewels but also various Holy Roman relics and other treasures of the king.
