What a whirl wind, 2 thanksgiving WorkCrews in November and we just finished our 1st Christmas WorkCrew with the 2nd one this weekend.
I should tell you that these weekends have around 25-47 youth attending!
I love these weekends when the youth we mentor feel like at home, they come find me, say hello and want a hug ♥️
Mentoring means it’s just not a one time meet and greet.
We make the best Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for them, the one at camp could be the only one they might have in a safe environment.
The kids decorate the lower levels of the cabins, walk our woods, find a tree and decorate it. Exchange gifts and decorate stockings.
What is a WorkCrew at Timber Bay?
These are youth we mentor that come to camp to learn how to work.
1. They learn how to be safe as they work
2. How to tackle it the work assignment
3. How to work as a team through the good and the bad
4. Gather tools and put them away
5. Learn leadership skills
Once our WorkCrew kids put their rookie hours in they become a Veteran.
They earn a hard hat and get stickers for excelling in leadership!
I love watching how relationships grow by working together.
They just love THEIR camp and the place they call THEIR HOME as they help care for it.
Enjoy the pictures of some of hardest working youth who just want to be seen and feel productive.
