The last to find hangs out in one of 's most peaceful locations. If you haven't taken your selfie with the library goat, make sure to pencil in a little extra time to explore this amazing location. Constructed and maintained by The Lake Conroe Rotary Club, Memory Park is one of our city's crown jewels. Come see it for yourself!

If you decide you have to have one for yourself, head on over to https://forms.gle/kErWTyeJiio9Nnmn8.
Please note that the cost does include a delivery fee within the city limits - this has been calculated to account for Public Works' time and expense while picking up the statues in Hempstead and delivering them to your yard. Since they weigh in excess of 400lbs, it's definitely worth it!!

Rusty is guarding the door at Rustic Cashmere LLC but perhaps he needs his own bodyguard. His soft coat is offset by bright golden horns and gleaming eyes. He's a handsome guy and is a hint of the fabulousness that can be found within his shop.

If you're looking through all of these goat posts and wondering how you could join the tribe of Montgomery goat owners, we have an option for you! Happy St Patrick's Day, Montgomery! isn't known for it's step dancers, green beer, or other St. Patrick's Day revelry - but did you know that neither is Ireland? The familiar revelry associated with this day was actually made in America!

According to history.com, March 17 has traditionally been more holy day than holiday in Ireland. Since 1631, St. Patrick’s Day has been a religious feast day to commemorate the anniversary of the 5th-century death of the missionary credited with spreading Christianity to Ireland. For several centuries, March 17 was a day of solemnity in Ireland with Catholics attending church in the morning and partaking of modest feasts in the afternoon. There were no parades and certainly no emerald-tinted food products, particularly since blue, not green, was the traditional color associated with Ireland’s patron saint prior to the 1798 Irish Rebellion.

After Irish Catholics flooded into the America in the decade following the failure of Ireland’s potato crop in 1845, they clung to their Irish identities and took to the streets in St. Patrick’s Day parades to show strength in numbers. “Many who were forced to leave Ireland during the Great Hunger brought a lot of memories, but they didn’t have their country, so it was a celebration of being Irish,” says Mike McCormack, national historian for the Ancient Order of Hibernians. As the Irish slowly assimilated into American culture, those without Celtic blood began to join in St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

America's St. Patrick's Day party atmosphere spread to Ireland with the arrival of televisions in homes and images of the fun being had in America. Green beer, however, seems to be the one imported idea that Ireland is resisting!

The can also be a way to express collegiate loyalty. Midshipman Monty is a symbol of the the proud mission of the USNA "To develop Midshipmen morally, mentally and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty in order to graduate leaders who are dedicated to a career of naval service and have potential for future development in mind and character to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship and government."

There's more than one business in that has a brand ambassador, but quite possibly the most recognizable is the one used by Chick-fil-A 105 & Lonestar Parkway Not surprisingly, they were the first to invite one of Monty's relatives to town and permanently expand the tribe. Imitation is one of the sincerest forms of flattery, so it's no surprise that the two mascots ended up looking alike! We love, love, love the goat that hangs out here!

The original is, of course, the beloved Monty who stands at the well in downtown . In 2006, the Montgomery Civic Association placed this statue in its current location - approximately a year after completing the replica of the town's water well. The original well, dug in 1844, was the city's first public water source. Then, as now, the availability of water for the public was an important part of the viability of a prosperous Montgomery. The water drew all visitors to Montgomery - including the original goat, to its downtown location. As shown in the photo posted on Friday, this well would still have been in operation in 1906 when the original Monty came to town.

After the big football game, who doesn't have goats on their mind??? (and if you don't know what we're talking about, check out https://youtu.be/FXblggXSJEI). is, of course, the Greatest Of All Towns, but we've also got a real goat in our town's past that we're commemorating.

One hot day in 1906, a goat wandered into downtown Montgomery. He hung around the well, quickly realizing that kind people would pull up water for him to drink. While casually walking through town, he also realized that he would receive food and other beverages from patrons at various establishments throughout town. The goat's stay in Montgomery extended and people looked forward to seeing him when they came to town. Today, this story symbolizes the friendliness and generosity of the people of Montgomery to our neighbors and visitors.

Is it any wonder that more and more goats are popping up around town with an ancestor like this starting it all? Give all to love;
Obey thy heart;
Friends, kindred, days,
Estate, good fame,
Plans, credit, and the Muse—
Nothing refuse.

'Tis a brave master;
Let it have scope:
Follow it utterly,
Hope beyond hope:
High and more high
It dives into noon,
With wing unspent,
Untold intent;
But it is a god,
Knows its own path,
And the outlets of the sky.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson
