Celebrating Rodney Milburn's Legacy 🏅
The late Rodney Milburn, Opelousas' very own Olympic Gold medalist, is receiving some well-deserved attention. Jason Church, with the National Parks Service visited the J.S. Clark Memorial Walkway at Le Vieux Village de Poste des Opelousas in order to take 3D laser measurements of the bronze bust of Milburn. The work is part of an upcoming graphic story for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, La.

While at the village, Jason had the opportunity to learn more about the former athlete from J.S. Clark by speaking with high school alumni. Stay tuned for more updates on this fascinating project!

The oldest house in Historic Opelousas has a new interpretive marker. On Tuesday, St. Landry Preservationist held a special ceremony to unveil a new marker for the Michel Prudhomme House, which was built in 1770 and features French Colonial architecture. Special guest for the event was Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, who along with other officials including Opelousas Mayor Julius Alsandor, helped with the sign unveiling. Congratulations to the St. Landry Preservationists on work for their sign project as well as restoration efforts they have been doing at the historic Prudhomme Home.
