WHAT: The Jamboree Jam — A MAJOR peaceful rally to save our hills
WHEN: Sunday, September 8, 10am to 2pm. (come within that time frame when you can :)
WHERE: Peacefully gather at the four corners of Jamboree Rd and E Chapman Ave, Orange, CA 92869 (parking available in nearby shopping center where you can also purchase snacks and beverages).
WHO: You. Our goal is to have at least 1,180 attendees. Let’s get involved NOW to make this happen.
WHY: Our petition has over 18,220 signatures of residents from Orange and beyond who do NOT want to lose the hills outside Irvine Regional Park to the 1,180 single family homes proposed by The Irvine Company. Our campaign is known as No Orange Heights and we stand firmly against the development of the 400-acre parcel that forms an irreplaceable natural wildlife corridor from the Santa Ana Mountains to Peters Canyon. If this habitat is destroyed, Peters Canyon will become an island devoid of wildlife that travels from Cleveland National Forest.
This impending development is within an already TRAFFIC-CONGESTED, HIGH-FIRE-SEVERITY ZONE and NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURALLY SENSITIVE AREA.
HOW: Numbers count. We need all of you at this demonstration, at least 1,180. Please show up and bring family members, friends, neighbors, strangers on the street! We need to show The Irvine Company and the City of Orange we do not want this to happen. Now is the 11th hour.
Wear green-colored shirts, bring signs saying No Orange Heights or another version thereof, such as No More Habitat Loss, Save Our Hills, Let Nature Live, Put Nature First, etc.
Costumes are welcome. Dress as one of the many special animals that use and inhabit these hills: mountain lion, bobcat, raccoon, skunk, hawk, eagle, bird, coyote, fox, lizard, snake, frog, bee, spider or any wild animal or insect you love.
WHAT TO BRING:
Big Signs with Big Letters
Wear a hat or bring an umbrella for shade
Bring water (or buy at Albertsons)
Wear sunblock
High energy to let everyone know we are serious about saving these hills
Family members, friends, neighbors, strangers on the street.
We can do it. Let’s show them now. They did it for Laguna Canyon in 1989 with nearly 8,000 people marching four miles up Laguna Canyon Road. We can do it for Orange and our beloved regional parks.
