itage. Kreilick Conservation was established by Conservator and Metallurgist T. Scott Kreilick as a sole proprietorship in 1996 and, subsequently, became a Limited Liability Company in 2002. Kreilick Conservation, LLC currently employs four full-time Conservators and six Conservation Technicians. Our Conservation Technicians are craftsmen/artists with experience in foundry-work, stone carving, gilding, painting, sheet-metal, and other skills. All work by Kreilick Conservation, LLC is conducted in accordance with the American Institute for Conservation’s Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice; and in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Restoration.

A great project at The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farm in Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ.

In addition to the relative rarity of Stickley's fireplace hoods, there are only six examples known which feature text executed in repoussé: five are in the Log House at Craftsman Farms. These five in the Log House are the only ones known that reside in the spaces for which they were designed. Visually striking, they are amongst the most memorable objects in the museum’s collection and the mottos are closely associated by visitors with the meaning and spirit of the property. Simply put, they are an integral part of this National Historic Landmark.

The five fireplace hoods at Craftsman Farms were recently the focus of a major restoration project. The structural integrity of the hoods was ensured by removing them from the walls to examine and replace the damaged wood plugs and missing screws. Conservation and cleaning of the copper hoods removed older water staining, paint splatter, and evidence of previous intervention strategies.

The restoration team included HMR Architects, Nickles Contracting and Kreilick Conservation. The project was funded by a grant from the Morris County Historic Preservation Trust and with Board Restricted funds from the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms.
