Important update for the UK!!!!
Confession time: I went cheap for this room. Normally I don't do cheap, but I was looking to shave a few corners, and this hotel was in the price range. All in all, not the best, but not the worst. Here's what I learned!
1. The staff at a hotel of any caliber can make or break your experience. I have stayed at other hotels in this price range and have been disappointed with the service I've received. This was not the case at Point A Olympia. The staff were exceptional and friendly.
2. Always double check your room before settling in. I was so cold and couldn't figure out why. Turns out, the previous tenants had left a window open in my room. After that, I was able to warm the room up nicely.
3. If cutting costs, be prepared for a cut in space. For a broad guy like me, this room felt a little like staying in a Hobbit Hole, but it was cozy.
4. Be prepared to lose sleep. There's no other way to put it. The walls are thin and some of the guests were very noisy at all hours of the night after a full night of drinking at the clubs nearby.
Next year on our Epic Castles Tour, we can expect to avoid rooms like this by sticking to higher star accommodations with a focus on serving a higher caliber experience.
