Oshkosh Love Story: Tatum + Shawn 💌

Shawn and I grew up in the same small town and graduated from the same high school two years apart. However it wasn’t until we both attended UW-Oshkosh did our paths cross. We connected and Shawn invited me to a party he was having in January of 2018. Ever since that night we have been inseparable. We spent many nights together studying at the library and working together in Reeve Union!
Shawn proposed in July of 2021 and we got married in September of 2023. I am so thankful for Oshkosh bringing us together!

Oshkosh Love Story: Beth + Steve Oswald 🩷

My (previous) “work husband” wanted to set me up with one of his close high school friends. He knew that if I could appreciate/tolerate his sense of humor that Steve and I would hit it off. He was right. Our wedding invitation (in the photos) really is the best way to describe our love story.
We got married at our friend’s building - what is now Venue 404 -and made our home right here in Oshkosh, the city where I grew up. 14 years later Steve is still making me laugh!

Oshkosh Love Story: Brandee + Brett 🧡

Our journey began in late 1989 in the heart of Oshkosh. My mom, Pat Shaw, owned a charming flower shop, and fate intervened when Brett, freshly returned from the Air Force, stopped by to visit his aunt who worked there. Mom thought he was "cute" and set us up on a blind date.

Brett picked me up the very next week, and our first date at the Chalice Restaurant sparked a connection that only grew stronger. Our second date at the old "Pegasus" restaurant sealed our fate, and the rest is history.

In 1991, we celebrated our love with a wedding at Brett’s church in Fond du Lac, followed by a reception at the Downtown Hilton (now the Oshkosh Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center). Oshkosh has always been our true home—our children, Katie and Kyle, were born at the old Mercy Hospital—even though we spent over a dozen years in Sun Prairie.

Now, we’re back in Oshkosh, soaking up everything this wonderful community has to offer. We love sharing our passion for this town with our kids and two grandbabies. Whether it’s summer park tours, enjoying root beer at Ardy & Ed's Drive In, attending Brew's on the Bay at Menominee Park and Zoo, taking train rides (we’re thrilled they’re making a comeback!), going on zoo dates, or exploring the Downtown Oshkosh Farmers Markets—the adventures never end.

After 34 years, our love continues to flourish, as does our growing family, all set against the backdrop of this amazing town. Thank you, Oshkosh, for all the love and memories!

ChangMai opened on 2/8 & offering Thai and Hmong cuisines--the food is fantastic! Devon tried crab rangoons, egg rolls, pad thai & fried rice--and Hudak & the City gives everything a 10/10!

Oshkosh Love Story: Ashley + Mike 💖

Mike and I are both Oshkosh natives and we met by accident during the Oshkosh Main Street Music Festival at Barley & Hops in 2017. Mike was working crew for the bands, I was there with my friends, who happened to know him. We were going back to my main street apartment to make tacos and they invited Mike along. I fell for him the moment he offered to wash the dishes after I cooked (a routine we still have to this day).
After beginning a friendship that turned into dating in 2020 we discovered that our parents lived just blocks from each other, we both went to Oshkosh North High School just missing each other by a few years, and we were at UWO at the same time. Again just missing one another. Mike was even the DJ at my friends wedding that I attended! We even ended up living across the street from each other and could signal with lights and signs to each other during quarantine in the beginning parts of COVID.

After years of just misses that turned into friendship, then dating, we got married in Downtown Oshkosh where it all began. We had the most perfect wedding at Venue 404 in 2024. Although we ended up moving to Neenah, Oshkosh always holds a special place in our hearts. We visit Oshkosh weekly and can never be too far from home.

Oshkosh Love Story: Tiffany + Reid ✨

We both got a second chance at love after meeting on a dating website. Reid grew up in Neenah, and Tiffany grew up in Georgia. The Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh was the perfect place to declare our infinite love for one another, and it just happened to be during the initial Nature of Light exhibit in 2022.

Oshkosh will always be a part of our story for setting the scene for a beautiful life!

Oshkosh Love Story: Heidi + Jordan 💚✨

My husband Jordan and I didn’t meet in Oshkosh, but it’s where our love blossomed.

We first met on a camping trip in the summer of 2019. I had gone to visit mutual friends, and Jordan—still in college at UW Oshkosh—was there too. We quickly connected, and even though Jordan fell for me before I realized it, we couldn’t deny the spark between us. We began dating in April of 2020. Fast forward to 2021, when Jordan proposed, and we began planning our wedding. We knew we wanted a special place, so we picked The Gibson Social Club in Oshkosh, right across from the bars we had frequented in our college days.

On December 16th, 2023, we said "I do." Oshkosh will always be close to our hearts—where we started our journey and where our love truly grew.

Oshkosh Love Story: Rona + Ron ❤️✈️

"Neither my partner, Ron, nor I have ever lived or worked in Oshkosh, and yet Oshkosh remains a significant place in our story! We first met in 2019 on a cruise from Vancouver to Southampton on Cunard's QM2. It was my first solo cruise after being widowed and Ron, who was divorced, was aboard with friends. Over the course of the trip we got to know each other, not really believing that anything permanent would result. After all, he lived in Australia and I in Britain!
After the cruise, we kept in touch via WhatsApp.. and then came Covid. We were locked down literally half a world apart! WhatsApp became our lifeline and we spoke or video-called every day for nearly three years!
In 2022, Ron booked a week at the EAA Oshkosh Fly-in. He's a retired RNZAF and RAAF officer and had long wanted to go to Oshkosh. "Come with me" he said "I'm flying into Chicago & driving up to Wisconsin. We could meet in Chicago Airport". And we did!
What a week it was. The convention was spectacularly vast yet so brilliantly organized. The aerobatic displays were awesome and the aircraft on display fascinatingly varied. Ron was in his element and we enjoyed being invited to the Jabiru owners get together one afternoon!
Oshkosh 2022 cemented our relationship. We knew that we needed to be together, so there were tearful farewells at Chicago Airport.
But two weeks later Ron flew to the UK. We spent a few months flying to & fro, eventually deciding to make Australia our home.
This year we are returning to Oshkosh. We're sure it will be just as happy a week as 3 years ago."

Oshkosh Love Story: Keagan + Andy 😍

November 2018: Andy’s friend and Keagan’s coworker decided that we would make a great match. Andy decided to reach out through Facebook and after a few days of messaging back and forth, Andy invited Keagan to come out to Mabel Murphy's - Oshkosh. That night they shared many conversations and a few friendly games of darts and the start of their relationship. Fast forward to June of 2020 and Andy popped the question at Terrell’s Island.

October 2021, what better spot to get married than at Oshkosh Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center and of course we had to make a stop at where it all began, Mabel Murphy’s.

February 2025, our family consists of our Silver Lab and 2 beautiful kids.

Oshkosh Love Story: Alondra + Ryan 💕

Ryan and I met in Oshkosh at Peabody's Ale House and Sideyard on a summer night. He was talking to a mutual friend and I spotted him and knew I needed to go introduce myself. Long story short, we will be together for 9 years this summer! We bought our first house in Oshkosh and raised our daughter and two dogs there up until recently. Oshkosh and Peabody’s holds a very special place in my heart because it brought Ryan and I together!

Oshkosh Love Story: Lindsey + Matt Mugerauer 💞

Our story begins in the halls of Oshkosh West High School, when kids still used their lockers. Ours were close to each other and a friendship grew from there. After graduation we started dating, spending nights at Spanbauer field and attending UW-Oshkosh together. We got married in 2005 celebrating at the Columbus Club surrounded by friends and family.
Growing up in Oshkosh we couldn't imagine starting our family anywhere else. It's been fun watching our kids walk the same halls that we did. To give back to this community that gave us so much, Matt found himself getting involved in local politics. Starting with serving on the Softball Commission to being the Mayor of Oshkosh. We can't wait to see what the future holds for us, our family and this amazing city.

Jansen's Bar and Restaurant has been a neighborhood staple since 1892! Originally a grocery store and a variety of bars---Jansen’s, as we know it, opened in the 1970s and is currently owned by Aaron Busse.

Widely known for their Friday Fish Fry—Hudak & the City stopped to check out other favorites—we think you will love too!

We were lucky enough to sit next to Jane & Terrell at the bar--Terrell even his name on the bar! He recommends the Grilled Haddock & stops every Friday to get it! (Thanks for the tip, Terrell!)
