Lake Home Retreat in Minnesota’s Beautiful Ottertail County
We're excited to offer our Buchanan Lake Retreat vacation home for weekly or monthly rental throughout all four wonderful Minnesota seasons! This ’07 built custom lake home is located on a private road and has a level lot with a spacious 100 feet of lakeshore. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a queen size bed, and 1 with a double bed and 2 bunk
beds. There is also a sofa sleeper in the living room accommodating a total of 8 guests. The bath includes a full-sized bathtub/shower. The home has cozy central heating and air conditioning with new appliances including refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. It is fully equipped with a coffee maker, pots/pans, dishes, utensils, new bedding, new pillows, new towels, TV, DVD player, and various board games, puzzles and books. There is an outdoor gas grill, fire pit, and picnic table on a large deck overlooking the lake. A dock with a bench seat is provided for lakeside enjoyment and for tying up your boat. The lake home is set in a great location for fishing, boating, kayaking, skiing, picnics, swimming, biking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, scrapbooking, and more. Ottertail County is located in West-Central Minnesota, home to over 1,000 lakes and streams—the most lakes of any county in the U.S.A. We're conveniently located approximately 1½ hours from Fargo and 2½ hours from the Twin Cities and easily accessible from US Highway 10 or I-94. Buchanan Lake is nearly 1,000 acres with a maximum depth of 42 ' and 9.5' clarity. Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Black Crappie, Walleye, Perch and Sunfish are the common gamefish species. The friendly community of Ottertail, MN is only 2 miles away and offers dining, golfing, several specialty boutiques and shops, and a bakery. Treat yourself to excellent pizza and fun at Zorbaz, float down the Ottertail River on a 2 hour tube ride, golf at one of the many popular golf courses nearby including Thumper Pond, Balmoral, Pebble Lake and Perham Lakeside Golf Course which offers 27 challenging holes. Take a hike, ride horseback or enjoy the scenic drive through nearby Maplewood or Glendalough State Parks. For your winter vacation, try ice fishing right outside the door or cross-country skiing at Spidahl Ski Gaard. It is 20 miles away and they offer 15 miles of classic and skate groomed cross country ski trails. You can find downhill skiing at the newly reopened Detroit Mountain which is about a half-hour away. There are also 275 miles of groomed snowmobile trails to explore and you can drive your sled directly to the trail located 1 mile from the vacation home. Take advantage of this recreational all-season paradise! Also about 20 miles away is the bustling and industrious little town of Perham where you’ll find a variety of stores and restaurants and even a microbrew. Perham is the home of Barrel Of Fun, Kenny’s Candies and Tuffy’s Pet Foods. There is also a convenience/grocery store for provisions, gas, and bait less than 2 miles away from the lake home (this little spot, Carr’s, bakes some of the best caramel rolls you’ll find anywhere!). We are looking for responsible, respectable renters who will take care of the lake and enjoy the lake home like they were your very own. For the comfort of all guests, smoking is not allowed indoors. We have limited local television programming, but do not have cable or satellite/dish. However, you will have good cell phone/wireless reception. Pets are allowed with a modest additional fee and deposit. Make this your family getaway!
