Job duties include responding to email and phone inquiries, customer service, sales, scheduling, gear rentals, and more. 👀 Looking for an avalanche? Post-storm is a great time to find them. (Swipe to the end for a good one!)

On a recent avalanche course we viewed avalanches in a variety of terrain. Seeing them in real life is ideal for training your brain to understand where they might be lingering even when they haven’t flushed out yet.

The is looking magical!

We love the Ouray Ice Park being part of this community. With more than 150 routes to choose from, it makes ice climbing accessible. It’s also a great venue to teach skills because there are so many options.

While the park is free to visit, many people hire guides to learn how to ice climb or refine specific skills. At our course progression sets you up with the skills you need to be able to climb in the ice park on your own — from movement, to anchors, and more.

No matter how you visit this beautiful park, we recommend you buy a membership to ensure it keeps running (it costs $20/climber/day to operate). Membership gets you access to events the ice park puts on throughout the season, discounts at local businesses, and early access.

GUIDE TRAINING

Each year our team gets together at the start of the winter season to practice skills, review curriculum, build camaraderie, and get current on industry updates.

Here, our ski guides sample the goods (and we did find the goods!) and gather information about the state of the snowpack in our zone. Our ice guides did some scouting, anchor checking, and mentoring on backcountry ice flows.
