“Humble Sea started as a fiercely underfunded collaboration between 3 childhood friends from the Santa Cruz Mountains. The brewery was bootstrapped on a 1 barrel brewing system our cofounder,Nick’s grandmother-in-law’s farm in rural Ben Lomond before the boys had enough guts (and bucks) to open the brewery and taproom on the Westside of Santa Cruz.

We like to think of our beer as vehicle for change. Romantic right? But really, who wants to save whales without drinking a beer? Since the beginning we’ve obsessed over the humble vision of becoming a community hub to support ocean-based causes and human rights issues. We’ve raised tens of thousands of dollars and gobs of awareness for local groups and non-profits thanks to the community of Santa Cruz, the Bay Area, and beyond (we see you Sacramento).

But first, there was homebrew. In 2009, our head brewer Nick Pavlina, began homebrewing under the alias of Humble Sea. After several national homebrew medals he pitched opening a brewery in late 2014 to cofounders Taylor West and Frank Scott Krueger. Collaboration occurred. A team formed. Humble Sea Brewing Co. ascended upwards and into billowy fog of soft water profiles and Southern Hemispheric aromas.

“If you’ve been hearing about California baking under oppressive heat waves, I can assure you we are fine where we are at. The marine layers of fog that come and go here are unlike any climate I’ve ever lived in.
I drove down to the coastline at Pacifica after supper last night, about an hour or two before sunset. The light was constantly changing as the fog blew in and out and about. A lone fisherman caught my eye/attention...also had the drone up for a bit as well.

THIS SATURDAY! World Dog Surfing Championships at Linda Mar Beach. Heats begin at 10am. The crowds will be huge so get there very early & plan accordingly. Highway 1 traffic will be heavy. Here are some helpful tips:

SURF DOG VILLAGE:
-Will consist of 19 "official" participant vendors.

PLEASE NOTE:
-Spectators w/dogs - MUST be on a leash
-Please respect the runway of the dogs, stay back behind the ropes.
-Leave No Trace: if you pack it in, pack it out at the beach & on our city streets
-Do not park or block residential driveways
-Do not park where there are No Parking signs
-Do not park in merchant parking spaces for this event
-Violaters will be ticketed
-There is paid parking at Cabrillo School on Crespi Dr, at the corner of Hwy 1 & Crespi Dr and at Linda Mar Beach lots north & south but is VERY limited, parking along Crespi Dr, Roberts Rd & Linda Mar Blvd, but again do not block driveways.

Restrooms:
-In the north & south parking lots at Linda Mar Beach
-Portapotties in the main Linda Mar Beach parking lot to the south, right before Taco Bell.
