Today, November 23, the road to the trailhead was clear of snow. The temperature was 38° and the skies held back the rain. First three miles were wet and muddy. There was snow the last mile but boots were just fine.

Packwood Lake, two miles long and 0.6 miles wide, was formed over a thousand years ago when a landslide dammed Lake Creek; the Taidnapam people used the lake as a camping and fishing site. Today, the lake's southern half lies within the Goat Rocks Wilderness.

Things to do in Packwood during the fall months:

●Visit the Visitor Center and check out some local gifts and get the real scoop of what to do in the town
●Trunk or Treat tomorrow
●White Pass Country Museum
●Walk the Skate Creek State Park
●Take a drive
●Check out our two Brewery's in town
●Eat at our restaurants
●Visit the many boutiques in the area
●Take a drive to our quaint towns nearby; Randle, Morton, Glenoma, and Ashford
●Go wildlife watching; birds, Elk, deer and others but, never feed nor touch or get close to them

Or, you could always just relax by the bonfire and "just be."
