Hot air ballooning with Captain Austin includes: sight seeing, the geography and history of the Pagosa Springs area and surrounding San Juan Mountains, and floating through the sky wherever the winds may go. Our most asked question is "Is it cold up there?" No its not, with the burners putting out 44 million BTU's (British Thermal Units) of heat its not cold, even in the middle of the winter.
Love is in the air, literally! We are incredibly honored that Hope & Paige chose us to be a part of their wedding day; They exchanged beautiful vows amidst the breath taking spring views of the San Juan Mountains. What a special, adventurous way to celebrate love! Congratulations!

On the first successful balloon flight, passengers carried champagne on board to celebrate, but ended up using it as an offer of goodwill to the farmers where the balloon landed. The champagne successfully convinced the landowners that the balloonists were indeed human, and now we end each of our flights with a champagne toast!

Is having a fear of heights or motion sickness holding you back from a hot air balloon ride?
Have no fear- many who struggle with this do not report these feelings in a hot air balloon. You might be surprised at exactly how peaceful hot air balloons are! There is very little sense of height or movement in the balloon, but merely a relaxing, floating sensation! The same goes for motion sickness.

Wind! Balloons go where the wind goes, & what may feel like a gentle breeze to you can mean something different for a balloon! We are adamant about checking wind patterns before & during the flight; Safety is key!
It is often windy in Pagosa the later it gets in the day. This is why we meet early in the morning, so that our passengers have the best chance at a long, safe flight!
