Captain Sky crossed over earlier Aug 2nd 2023 after a battle with cancer. He always provided guests the guided tour of a lifetime sharing his knowledge of the volcano filled with experiences while he working in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park as well as fishing along the Puna coast. Survived by his wife and 2 boys 17 & 18. If anyone would like to help his family a go fund me has arranged.

Aloha kākou! We would like to extend a warm mahalo to all of our guests who made 2022 possible. We are open and operating. Hawai‘i Island currently has two volcanoes erupting - - Kīlauea and Mauna Loa! It is a very exciting time for both kama‘āina (local residents) and malahini (visitors) alike. Here is an incredible view of the active lava lake within Halema‘ma‘u crater on Kīlauea volcano and fissure 3 erupting high on the northeast flank of Mauna Loa volcano.

Much time has passed since the eruption but these images still make me feel like I’m still at ground zero.
This one catches my eye and almost seems surreal. A clash of elements !

Aloha Friday! Sharing a photo of this massive lava island in the river of lava that took Kapoho.

Magma Momma

A huge island of rock in the middle of the lava river that ran through Kapoho. To me it resembles a magma momma, hence the name. This rock island is probably 30 feet across and twice as long!
Stunning colors and captivated me for a few hours. I have this one printed on a 20x30 metal and everyone who says it says the same thing: “it looks 3-D!”
