We are learning a lot about growing peaches at The Palisade River House.... albeit the hard way sometimes. There's going to be a big thinning this winter. Our next guests will be going home with an incredible assortment of Elberta, Red Haven, JH Hale and Sweet Cap peaches.

The peaches at The Palisade River House are currently about as big as a ping-pong ball. We bought a scale for guests to weigh their biggest peach. We can't wait to see what mother nature will deliver us this year.

The Northern Warblers are making their way through the orchard tonight. Golden Crowned Kinglet (I think)... as well. So if you are a birder, The Palisade River House is a great place to watch.

I'm pretty sure that some of these peaches would feed two people at a time. We bought a scale and are going to "try" to keep track of the biggest peach of each variety next season. This was a JH Hale.

Have you ever heard of Sweet Cap peaches? Also known as Donut peaches or Saturn peaches. We have twenty trees of this variety and when in season, guests at The Palisade River House can take some home. They are considered the sweetest of all the peach varieties.

To our past, present and future guests... The Town of Palisade has increased nightly lodging fees by 300%. After this election, guests will now have to pay $6 per bedroom, per night lodging fees. Sorry

We hired Tori Jacobs (Professional gardener), to take care of our plants and our plants have NEVER looked better. November 2nd and we still have blooming roses thanks to her vision. We highly recommend her. She is the best gardener in the Grande Valley.

Lilac, Wisteria and cherry trees are in bloom. We planted 35 more peach trees today. There are now 63 peach trees, 1 apple tree and 1 cherry tree for our guests to enjoy. Guests at The Palisade River House can take home a box of either.. JH Hale, Red Haven, Sweet Cap (doughnut peaches) or Elberta peaches when in season, compliments of The Palisade River House.
