VINTAGE HAWAI'I TV: OK, I learned something. I'm throwing out the history cards and retooling. Here is a bit of TV history instead. Today is a FULL one for me. I will poke amongst the wreckage of planned posts for something tomorrow.

TRaVEL DESTINATION KANEMITSU'S BAKERY AND COFFEE SHOP - ISLAND OF MOLOKA'I: "What do you think of cream cheese and cinnamon?", I asked as I approached the window to order. "Is it better than with butter?" "Yes!", she said. "Why?", I responded. I needed her to qualify her answer. I'd been through so much already. "It's sweeter" That sounded like she just made it up to pacify me. But the time was ticking away. I can't do this sorta thing all night. I have snorkel in the morning with Uncle Tim. I went with the cream cheese and handed her $11 and left her the .50 cents change in the tip jar. "Do you mind if I record this?" She smiled and went to work. "Sure!" She'd done this before....

The Captain of the Queen Mary 2 telling us we were headed into a hurricane. “Not to worry the ship was built for the crossing. Hopefully we’ll make it to New York before it makes landfall..... in New York.” And what a wild ride it was! I think he could have been just a little excited about it. It was a little strange to see waves regularly splashing against the windows on the 7 th floor!

TRaVEL DESTINATION BUCA INONU, TURKEY: We were on the last flight out of Izmir heading for Istanbul. Upon arrival, we were to meet a driver returning us to the Hotel Saltania in the Faith district of Istanbul. The First Class seats aboard Turkish Airlines were very reasonable and very comfortable. TRAVEL DESTINATION UNION STATION LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA This is a Superliner (double-decker) train leaving the Amtrak Station located near Olivera Street in downtown LA. The station has been partially restored to its former glory days when the regular clients would have been the likes of Lucile Ball and family. Lucille loved to travel by train preferring to travel the rails over flying. She was a regular on the Southwest Chief that still runs between LA and Chicago. Once upon a time, working for Amtrak, I called Union Station my home base. Those were the days before the "renovations" and the new LA Subway system that sealed for good the secret underground labyrinth of tunnels and hidden rooms.
