How do we use tourism to support our community? Like this:

🏔 Visitor trips help support our ability to offer a variety of community programs to locals in our area. We've hosted almost 40 events so far this year.

🏔 Visitor trips allow us to offer community scholarships for locals to attend these activities.

🏔 Visitor trips also support our ability to offer some free programming to the community throughout the year. 🎉

🏔 In addition to visitor trips we have a crew of locals - the folks who help support the work we do through their monthly memberships.

We've come a long way and will continue to learn along the way. We appreciate the support and can't wait to see you on the trails 💚

Good reminder on trail etiquette this time of year.

As we move into our “break up” season please be kind to the trails. We know that lots of people are excited to get out and enjoy the wonderful spring weather(as are we), however some trails are much more susceptible to damage at this time and that damage can last all season. If you find yourself leaving tracks in the soil of the trail, please consider going to another more sustainable trail to recreate. Gravel trails such as the Matanuska River Trail, many of the trails at Settlers Bay Costal Park, and the Pink Wild Rose trail at Government Peak Recreation Area are good choices. Some other options are any paved bike lanes along many Valley roads, the paved trails at Alcantra Sports Complex and the Matanuska Rive Park, or the sand and gravel bars near the rivers. Signs have been posted at many trailheads and we will monitor trail conditions and adjust signage as needed. Let’s hope for a fairly quick transition between spring and summer so that we can all get out and play without causing long term damage to the trails! Thank you for your help.
