Today we left the ship for a 2:45 hours to the beaches of Normandy. We drove by Juno beach seeing things left behind after the war, we visited the Gold Beach area where we saw a video of pieces of the war and a museum and had lunch before heading to cemetery of over 9390 bodies are buried. Pictures are of the entry where a wreath was layed at the statue before we had time to walk around the cemetery and the chapel which has a be mosaic ceiling. As we walked to view the beach, my phone died. I will get pictures from someone and post them later.

Yesterday, Saturday the 16th we visited the city of Rouen, France (second largest city in France) where we walked the streets visiting their Notre Dame cathedral, just walking the streets admiring the architecture and history. We saw where Joan of Arc met her demise. Later that evening we dined as a group out on their open air dining area. It was a pleasant evening despite the daytime hot temperatures. It is light past 10:00PM making it difficult to turn in early. More to come on today’s visit to the Normandy Beaches.
