Wow... "Surfer Dan" takes the polar bear plunge to a whole new level! What an eccentric, and awesome, dude! We've got ice on Lake Huron out our back door... beautiful, but I won't be out in it!

Local legend "Surfer Dan" takes surfing to a new and chilly level! Marquette native Daniel Schetter has been surfing Lake Superior for more than 20 years, and each winter, he sets a goal to grow a bigger and better ice beard.

On Christmas Day, he and photographer Devon Hains braved cold temps (near -25 below wind chill) to document what Dan does best - riding gnarly waves!
