Sacred Acres Alpaca Farm We have a herd of 19 Huacaya alpacas, being raised for their fine quality fiber & gentle disposition.

We have a herd of 16 Huacaya alpacas, being raised for their fine quality fiber. Some of our ladies are pregnant and weโ€™re expecting the next cria (alpaca baby) in early 2023. Our Sponsor-an-Alpaca program is a wonderful gift for those who would like a more personal experience with our animals, and it helps support the care and feeding of our alpacas. The farm is periodically open to the public fo

r free family-oriented events. We offer farm tours and alpaca walking, trails to explore through 23 wooded acres and along Ballinger Creek, and 3 picnic areas where you can bring your own lunch and enjoy our peace-filled farm. If you have mobility issues, we can drive you around the farm on our quiet electric golf cart. We teach knitting and crocheting, and periodically present workshops on many aspects of working with fleece. There is also an alpaca store where you can buy alpaca clothing and accessories and alpaca-themed gifts.

Looking for a unique way to enjoy the season with family and friends? Join us for a FREE Holiday Open Farm Event on December 21 and 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at 16310 James Madison Hwy, Palmyra, VA. Enjoy some hot mulled cider and cookies during your visit.

Our farm store is open daily from December 11 to December 22, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., except Mondays with a store-wide 20% discount through December 22. The farm will be closed December 23 through December 26.

Retail Store & Studio Update

Thereโ€™s a New Year coming and with it Sacred Acres Alpaca Farm is rebranding, with a new logo and a new focus. Our logo is just the beginning. Weโ€™re excited to share some big changes happening here!

1. Studio Renovation Update
The renovation of our studio space is almost complete, and we canโ€™t wait for you to see the transformation. The updated studio will offer a more inviting and versatile space for creativity and collaboration.
2. Retail Store Adjustment
To accommodate the expanded studio area, weโ€™ve reduced the size of our retail store. This allows us to shift our focus toward enhancing the studio experience while still offering a curated selection of products.
3. Focus on Studio Rentals
Our updated studio will soon be available for rentals! Whether youโ€™re an individual seeking a quiet space to work or part of a group looking for a creative venue, our studio will be the perfect spot for your needs.
4. Fiber Workshops & Alpaca Fleece Products in 2025

National Alpaca Farm Days always occurs the last weekend in September as alpaca farms across North America open their gates to the public. This year we will be open on September 28 & 29 from 11:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. to celebrate the wonder of alpacas. Here are some of the things you can expect from our farm:

Meet, Greet and Hand Feed the alpacas
Feel the alpaca fleece
Explore the farm using the map we provide when you arrive
Check out our network of trails through 23 wooded acres and along Ballinger Creek
View a demonstration on fiber processing, from raw fiber up to the point of spinning
Learn what it takes to raise and care for alpacas
Learn about alpaca ancestry and their behavior
Shop for alpaca products in our farm store
Buy your lunch from D'Mary's Mexican Food Truck OR
Bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy at one of our picnic areas

With the extreme heat we have been experiencing, we feel it advisable to restrict alpaca walking to days when the temperature and heat index combined are less than 90ยฐ. On extreme heat days our alpacas choose to remain in their barns where the fans are or hang out in shady areas. We also hose their legs and bellies to help cool them down.

If you have scheduled a tour and walk on a day of extreme heat, please call or text us at (703) 945-0766 to check on your reservation. If you wish to cancel the tour due to high heat, we will gladly reschedule your tour or refund your registration fee.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. The safety and well-being of our alpacas is our prime concern during this hot summer. Thank you for your understanding.
