UPDATE ON SANDY TOES FLORIDA

Change is a part of life! It provides an opportunity for growth and new, exciting adventures.

A few months ago, we began discussing what changes we wanted to embrace in 2021, and that led to asking ourselves if we were ready to sell Sandy Toes. After weeks of conversations and prayers, we decided to list our special beach house for sale. Much to our surprise, we immediately received an offer, and the new owners will be in residence at some point in March.

My heart and soul were happy and peaceful at the beach. I have always referred to Sandy Toes as “my soul happy place.” Even so, change is in our future! We do not know yet what exciting adventure awaits us, but we’re ready for a change!

Thank you, all of you, for following and supporting Sandy Toes Florida. We, along with our crab digging Min Pin, Elvis, enjoyed sharing our beach adventures with you. Our hope is for each of you to have a healthy and happy 2021.

We will be removing the STF website and the STF Facebook account in a few days.

Photo shows pelicans resting on a sand bar after the winds and rain from Hurricane Sally passed through Alligator Point. And, the cycle of life continues...Sandy Toes sends prayers to all on the receiving end of the wrath and destruction of Hurricane Sally, and much thanks to all workers and volunteers helping in the cleanup efforts.

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN...TURTLE NESTING SEASON. You should leave nothing on the beach each evening! Take your belongings, including chairs, umbrellas, tents, trash, etc. back to the house at the end of each day. YES, it takes a little time and effort, but the survival of our turtles depends upon you doing the right thing! Thank you!

I AWOKE THIS MORNING TO THE BEAUTIFUL SUN RISING OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO! Hallelujah! Sandy Toes Florida has been experiencing “unFlorida-like weather for the past week - - lower than normal temps, cold, strong winds out of the North and Northeast, more rain than usual and no sunshine ☀️ for 5-6 days!

I know many of you are dealing with even more extreme weather. So, Elvis and I were especially grateful to take two long walks today, with sunshine on our shoulders and temps for the first walk in the mid 50s at low tide and the second walk was with mid 60s temp. Ahh, more like it should be, pushing 70 at this time of the year. Can’t ask for anything more!

UPDATE ABOUT TROPICAL STORM NESTOR: At Sandy Toes Florida, we have been dealing with stormy issues for the past few days. Not knowing what to expect from lopsided Nestor, other than high storm surge, strong winds and heavy rain, we prepared as though expecting a hurricane. It was a lot of work, but always worth it to be as prepared as we can!

Yes, we had sustained winds of 35 - 50 mph, rain and moderate storm surge, and we awoke this morning to a beautiful sunrise and calm Gulf of Mexico waters, rather than the raging white caps of yesterday! Throughout the storm, Sandy Toes remained strong, having withstood worse tropical storms and many hurricanes since 1961! We’re so blessed and grateful!

INTERESTING CREATURES observed at sunrise on small window at Sandy Toes Florida: Praying Mantis, Butterfly and small Green Frog. Usually, it’s only a dozen or so frogs hanging out on the window near the dusk to dawn light. Come join us for fun and relaxation!

UPDATE ON TURTLE HATCHLINGS ON AUGUST 12, 2019. Sixty-one baby turtles were released this evening. Others that still had umbilical cords attached will probably be released in the morning! The second photo is showing JoJo helping the baby turtles over Sea Pork into the water. Such an amazing event to witness. Come see it for yourself - witness the cycle of life!

ELVIS, THE MIGHTY CRAB DIGGER. It took him less than five minutes to run the crab out of its hole. The depth of the hole was almost as deep as Elvis is long! Fortunately, the crab made his way past a surprised Elvis and escaped into the water. Too funny!
