When u talk about cruising people talk about food and how good it is. In July I sailed on Princess for the first time to Alaska. It would be my 51 cruise. I always sail with an open mind and I always try something I can’t get at home. On boarding day we went straight to the Buffett called the Marketplace. It was huge with so many options from kids, gluten free, vegetarian and so much more. I had a salad every lunch. It is open every day for BLD. As we ate here most breakfasts and lunches. How cold is it in Alaska when u cruise? I live in Florida so going from 110 degrees to 50’s and 60’s was going to be a drastic change. Wrapping my head that I needed to pack for winter was a bit of a struggle. Mostly I packed jeans, sweat pants, sweat shirts and a rain jacket and a polar fleeced jacket. I figured I could buy something if needed. The shops on board had long sleeve t shirts and sweat shirts and some polar fleece. It rained a few days so I was happy I had my rain coat. One shop in Ketchican had jackets for $30 which were reversible and waterproof with polar fleece a great buy. The ship was comfortable and did not feel cold or hot. Next time I will bring some rain pants. I didn’t stress about the weather and went out in it rain or shine. It was a good walk from every port to get to the town or shopping areas and tour areas. I love to get into the pools but did do that even though one was covered. If you are interested in Alaska contact me to get you on a cruise to Alaska.

I get asked, will I see wild life in Alaska. The answer is yes. Did I see some from the ship.. Yes I saw an eagle perched on a steeple in Ketchikan. We also saw a bear in a tree in Juneau. I did not see any whales from the ship I did see a tiny head of a seal at the glacier. If you do the bearing see fisherman’s tour you will see wildlife from the boat..Too many eagles to count. They pulled up fish and crab. You can even hold a crab too. There was an octopus too. We did the dog mushers excursions and saw huskies. When we toured the locks in Seattle we saw several seals. So get a set of binoculars and keep your eyes out.
