Beginning in 2024, the European Union will require visitors to get pre-approval via the European Travel Information and Authorisation System — and that goes for summer jet-setters from the US.
Before securing tickets, lodging, or a reservation at that trendy hotspot you saw on TikTok, vacationers will need to submit an ETIAS application for approximately $8.
Applicants will need to provide travel documentation, such as a passport, as well as personal information, education level, current occupation, anticipated trip details, and any criminal convictions.
While most applications are processed within minutes, some take longer to yield a decision and the European Union advises visitors to apply “well in advance.”
A response is promised within four days but could be extended by 14 to 30 days depending on the circumstance.
Once the authorization is secured, however, it is valid for up to three years or until the visitor’s passport expires.

Ready for your next all-inclusive getaway? Consider these 7 things when trying to decide which resort is best for you.
1️⃣ Family friendly or adults-only experience - Are you bringing your kids? Do you want to see kids? These are things you need to ask yourself. Some resorts cater to families and provide water parks and kids clubs, while adults-only resorts will focus more on romance, custom experiences and partying.
2️⃣ Food & Drinks - One of the main reasons people stay at all-inclusive resorts is because food and drinks are included. Are you ok with eating at a buffet or do you prefer nice restaurants where reservations have to be made? Do you prefer premium liquor? Some all-inclusive resorts specialize in culinary experiences, while others not so much. These are things you need to consider.
3️⃣ Service - How do you want to feel on the trip? Do you want to be catered to by a butler? Is pool and beach service important to you? If so, a resort on the higher end would make more sense.
4️⃣ Access to spas and excursions - For those that like to relax on vacation, the spa is a must. Review the spa menu in advance for the resort and also find out what excursions are available on site.
5️⃣ Accommodations - Old school furniture don’t bother you as much or is your preference more modern chic? Do you require a swim-out room or a balcony - be sure to keep these things in mind.
6️⃣ Resort Size - Are you ok with a small resort with only a few options? Or maybe mid-level that still has a variety of restaurants and activities to choose from? If you don’t mind take golf cart or walking a lot, also consider a large resort.
7️⃣ Beach or Pool - Ask yourself what matters more to you and yes this question is important. There are some destinations, such as Cabo that don’t have a lot of swimmable beaches - so having a nice pool is a must. If having a true ocean front view is a must for you also consider this as well, as some resorts are not centrally located on the beach.
