One of the most beautiful places on the planet, Neptune's Grotto is a stalactite cave near the city of Alghero on the island of Sardinia, Italy. The cave was discovered by local fishermen in the 18th century and has since become a popular tourist attraction.

Bwaaahaaahaaa!

A woman was flying from Melbourne to Brisbane when, unexpectedly, the plane was diverted to Sydney. The flight attendant announced there would be a delay and gave passengers the option to get off the plane, which would re-board in 50 minutes. Everyone got off, except for one lady who was blind.

A man noticed her as he walked by and realized she was blind because her Seeing Eye Dog lay quietly under the seats throughout the flight. He also noticed the pilot, who approached her and greeted her by name, asking if she would like to get off and stretch her legs while the plane was on the ground for an hour.

The blind lady replied, "No thanks, but maybe Max would like to stretch his legs."

At that moment, all the people in the gate area froze when they saw the pilot walk off the plane with the Seeing Eye Dog, wearing sunglasses.

Panic ensued. People rushed to change planes and even airlines!

The moral of the story: Things aren’t always as they appear, and a day without laughter is a day wasted!

Joint Media Release: Third Avenue Landslide Update 12 | Transportation Update

For Immediate Release

Our main transportation corridor through town has been drastically impacted by the Third Avenue Landslide. Traffic flow is slower than normal due to the ongoing ADoT Tongass Avenue Improvement project. Dawson Construction is working to improve the road surface. While the contractors on site have worked efficiently, and the flaggers move traffic effectively, there are significant delays.

On August 28 local officials met with tour operators and transportation companies to seek solutions for improving the traffic flows through town. Tour companies are working on proactive solutions to reduce the number of vehicles using the main thoroughfare. In addition, options are being pursued for:
• Park and rideshare locations north and south of town;
• Parking solutions in the downtown city corridor;
• Additional traffic control;
• Consolidated and alternate tour routes.

Emergency Response: The traffic delays have increased emergency response significantly.

It is critical that when emergency vehicles have lights on, vehicles must keep moving through the construction zone until there is a safe and large enough space to pull over to let the responder safely pass.

Safe Transportation of Students: The safe transportation of children to and from school is a top priority. Beginning Tuesday, September 3rd, school buses will be operating from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and again from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Request to Citizens:
1. Keep moving through construction zone when emergency vehicles need to get through.
2. Consider using the Borough Transit Bus for transportation. Bus information available at: https://www.kgbak.us/145/Transit
3. Consider carpooling or ride sharing opportunities.
4. Consider remote work options.
