It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Buzz’s passing. He crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday. 💔

His health had been declining over the last month, and we lost him on Wednesday to cancer. We request no further questions about his passing at this time — we are very heartbroken and it’s difficult for us to talk about it. Buzz was a good boy, the best boy, and he will be missed dearly.

Hey all 👋🏻 I shared this a week or so ago but don’t think it really got out there so I’m sharing again!

We have a team for the PanCAN PurpleStride again this year, happening on April 29th nationwide! We’d love to have a great team turnout again this year and are inviting everyone to join our team - “Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.” It doesn’t cost anything to register or walk.

👋🏻 Hi all, Alex here (M&M’s oldest). We have created a team for this years PanCAN PurpleStride and would like to invite you to join us once again as we walk to raise awareness and funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network! The PurpleStride is on Saturday, April 29, 2023 nationwide.

PurpleStride is the number one way PanCAN raises money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support.

Buehler’s Idlewild Inn - 2023 Return

My health update:
First of all, Mary and I were overwhelmed with all the love and support we received from our Buehler’s family and we are so excited to see you all again! I just finished the 12th treatment of one of the strongest chemotherapy regimens and I am still tolerating and responding well to treatments. Tumor in my pancreas as of last scan had shrunk approx. 45% from its start. Tumors in the Liver are shrinking and even disappearing. We are blessed and I believe I will be better and around for a while!!

We’ll be back!
At least we’re planning on a comeback for 2023! Mary and I are staying on the Farm this summer and have enjoyed the beautiful space and the needed time for treatment and healing. We have both agreed that as special as the place is…It is not the same without you! Together we have agreed to open back up again, but we will have to make some changes.

Summer Week Schedule:
Summer week-long stays will be from Sunday PM through Sat AM, giving us time for a reasonable turnover to clean and prepare for the next group.

Modified Meal Schedule:
As my treatment schedule may carry me right through next season, we will need to make some meal changes. Although we know the “three meals a day” has defined the ‘Buehler's experience’, we cannot commit to all the meals. As we have discussed with many of our guests, we also know three meals a day is not necessary. What we are proposing is the traditional Breakfast everyday and then a couple dinners, and a lunch or two for the summer weeks. The Weekend stays in the Spring and Fall would be the traditional breakfasts plus dinner on Saturday. Of course many guests bring tons of snacks and even run out for pizzas or to check out the local restaurants. We will gladly share current menus, hours and recommendations of the many local restaurants. We will also make some facility improvements to help aid with managing some meals on your own.

Facility Updates:
Our plan is to upgrade the resources in the Game Room with increased refrigeration, and a kitchen area where the present “bar/snack” counter is. Outside, we plan to cover the upper portion of the Game Room deck with a roof and provide Covered Grills with burners for cooking. Additional picnic tables will be available next to the Game Room as well. The picnic area outside the Farm House will continue to have cooking equipment, sink and picnic tables.

Rates and prices:
This area we have much to work on and will update as we work through the math. In order to continue to maintain, upgrade, insure and operate Buehler’s Idlewild Inn, our costs will need to be adequately covered. We always try to keep a reasonable rate schedule but please don’t expect a decrease as inflation is real here too.

We will have to confirm our plans this fall/winter when we update you all with 2023 details! Feel free to reach out to us with questions. We know not everyone may subscribe to the proposed changes and if you and your family would like to share your intentions, we would appreciate it. We however feel that a new ‘hybrid’ experience here might turn out to be pretty cool!
