Protect your frozen oama. #1 oama tip. I was oama fishing last year and talking to some of the anglers of how we use oama. I told them I how I keep my bait alive for weeks but also freeze some for the winter months to use as bait. They told me that all their frozen oama gets eaten by family and friends. They started laughing when I told them how I combat that problem. I use these “Bio Hazard” bags to store any valuable freezer items. No one touches it. Know your enemy! FYI it works best when you freeze some mud in another bio bag and keep it next to the oama. 100% safe.

Craving Hoto noodles. This was my bowl last month while traveling to Yamanashi Japan. Large flat noodles and lots of vegetables in a delicious broth. Even better when it was 50 degrees outside. You know the place is good when you are the only tourist in the restaurant.

One of my purchases made in Japan. I got back a week ago but as soon as I landed back in Honolulu I was busy shooting with . Finally had some time to start unpacking. I brought home one full case of fishing gear and tackle from my trip. Planning to load this reel with 55lb braid. Hope I can get it wet soon.

The best sushi I had in Japan. There is a new dining and shopping complex next to Toyasu fish market. $17 for this platter. Of course I had to have soft serve cone after the sushi.

Tomahawk craving satisfied. They had 3 sizes available. 28oz, 36oz snd 48oz. I ordered the 28oz with fried rice and a clam chowder. Perfectly prepared with excellent service.

Our guests arrived late last night from Holland and they were craving poke bowls. The owners and staff at Waialua General Store always have lots of grindz and Aloha. The owner Rudy thanked us for the support. “Nothing like this back home” Shave ice after this then a short break until the Pearl Ridge Night Market. Go big or go home boys. In Hawaii there are no small servings.

This morning in Honolulu the temperature was the same as when I was shooting Mt. Fuji with @keithueharaphotography back in December. Low 60’s.

All clear on Oahu to start fishing again. After the big rains I avoid beaches near rivers as the water is brown and all the debris is near shore and on the beach. This is one of my moi rigs. Simple but effective. Stay safe out there.

A taste of Korea today in Honolulu. Can you taste it?

5 minutes of running up and down the beach fighting this fish that hit my moi set up. Came in at 3-1/2 pounds. Picked up 2 nice moi but this was the most fun of the night.

Fresh fish for the New Year. Looking forward to lots of action in 2025. Testing out the new Daiwa reel.

Oama thief! Every time I cast out a bait this guy was trying to take my oama. Decided to give him one.

Happy Holidays from Japan. I filmed this a year ago in Nagoya. This is the best light show I have visited so far. I just booked my next trip to see the small towns in snow country of northern Japan. Enjoy the show.

This is what a day in Japan would be like with @barefootadventureshi . Spending the day on Lake Kawaguchi taking photos of snow capped Mount Fuji. Ending the day with soft serve ice cream before soaking in the best onsen. 10 years ago I was here and I could barely walk due to a car accident that totaled my 4Runner. I soaked in the onsen and next day my back pain was gone and I was able to walk without discomfort. Looking forward to my next trip in a few months so I can soak while it is snowing.

I have been to the Arizona Memorial dozens of times with our guests but my most memorable visit was in 2021 when I was able to visit alone. I was allowed to spend 1 hour at the memorial alone and film. It looks and feels so different without the crowds. Never forget December 7, 1941.

My favorite spot for sunset photography in the middle of Tokyo Bay. Great shopping and dining at this rest stop and beautiful sunsets with the silhouette of Mount Fuji in the distance.
