It’s hotter than coals in the campfire today so if you’re not cooling off in the river with us, chill out to the epic shots of the Current River Expedition in Missouri with the Buffalo Boys Expedition Crew! I love getting to ride river with those guys each year! Our intended plan was to run 61 miles from Cedar Grove to Log Yard but we were cut a day short by a huge storm that closed the Jack’s Fork and we had to get out early at Two Rivers which ended up being an amazing detour. I highly recommend taking a trip down the Current River, it was unbelievable!

Rise of the Sun

One can find themselves rooted into a routine that leads them into darkness. A self destructive pattern of habits that can accumulate like a snowball rolling down a mountain side plowing it’s way steady and true to it’s tragic end. I felt like the snowball, and a change needed to be made. I, Matthew Keller, was awarded the nickname Sunshine by my parents when I was a child. As I grew, individuals had noted the brightness of my personality and demeanor which solidified me as, Sunshine. I was raised in a military family and we were transferred around the country often but found home in the Northern California area until moving and rooting in Nashville, TN. I had made my living as a bartender and musician in East Nashville, where I had met my wonderful wife, Angela. As our love grew so did our family, and so did our families needs. Angela, working Monday through Friday during the day and I, working every weekend evening found ourselves a provided yet divided unit. In the end, the lifestyle of Bar tending and being a good father go together like oil and water and it was time for change. Times spent with my children during the day are filled with adventures, from hikes, camps, paddling, the zoo, road trips, plane rides, and train rides too. Having three amazing but small (rambunctious) children, alone on adventures seemed crazy to some but most found it more refreshing and impressive and the Outdoor Education and Exercise Physiology courses I studied in college in combination with my children’s love for adventure and my love for my children and nature, sun shined on the seed of Sunshine’s Adventures. In a world vacuumed by technology, politics, trajedies, and disasters, we as people possess the capacity to see the bright side of life in its darkest moments, to perservere and proceed with hope. It is my aspiration to persevere and proceed with hope that I can provide not only a grand example of opportunity and success for my children but a grand opportunity for you to create your next best memory. Thank you for reading, I sincerely look forward to your adventure!
