It is official, we have moved to Beach Getaways for professional management. We had been with our prior company for many years but there was a serious change in personnel that made us think they might be stretching folks too far so we made the tough call to leave our great reviews behind and move on. Herons Crossing can be found at mybeachgetaways.com, using an apostrophe in Heron’s. Since we are technically brand new, special prices are being offered to fill the seats and get some new reviews. So far, our new company has proven far more responsive.

We have owned and stayed in a lot of gulf front places up and down PK since we first came down with my folks in 1982. Everyone in my family is in agreement that we greatly prefer Lost Key. Now mind you, we didn’t own the multimillion dollar pads. One big reason we prefer Lost Key is that we have peace and quiet and privacy of a home with convenience of the Beach Club. The Club offers live music, food, sometimes special events like holiday brunches, craft and art events, trivia night, etc. A trip to the beach is super easy and you can go in any weather and be comfortable with AC if needed, a pool, bar, grille, heat, whatever and still watch the dolphins and feel the spray. Love it. Here’s the music schedule, tons of fun.

Looking for an affordable beach vacation? Check us out! This 4 Bedroom 4 bath villa is changing management companies which means we have to start over on rental platforms. While our reviews are currently great, we can’t bring them along so as a “new” property, we discount rates until we are once again established. See prior post for more information.

Hello Beachlovers! Herons Crossing can now be rented through mybeachgetaways.com for stays after July 18, 2024. Given the change, expect discounted rates while we establish our rental under a new firm and work on getting great reviews on our new listing. Our current reviews can be found in the Vacasa listing- they are solid and average 4.8/5 across platforms but we can’t take them with us. No slams on Vacasa, we just feel Beach Getaways may be a better fit right now in full service management.

Nesting season is HERE! Florida is home to the majority of the United States' sea turtle nests! Now through October, help us protect our nesting turtles and their hatchlings by doing the following:

⚠️ Keep a safe and respectful distance of turtles, nests, and hatchlings, of at least 50 feet

🏖️ Keep the beach flat! Fill in holes and knock down sand castles to help turtles find their way back to the water

🔦 Avoid using white light on the beach, and instead opt for a red light flashlight. You can pick one up for free at the Visit Destin-Fort Walton Beach Visitor's Center!

🚮 Pick up trash and avoid single-use plastics

Stay tuned for new photos folks, we just replaced the flooring with new luxury vinyl plank. It looks wonderful but of course my photos include messy rooms as we had been there a while. Some new furniture, art and decor and a fully furnished patio with gas grill now too.

New for 2022, a turtle safe (yep, that’s a thing) paver patio, big gas grill and even more outdoor seating. If the screened in deck isn’t doing it for you, head down to the sheltered sunny south facing patio to catch those rays or grill the catch of the day or let your pup get some grass time as we are dog friendly.

Herons Crossing is now dog friendly! No weight or size restrictions so bring Fido or Fuzzy or Rex and enjoy the 5 miles of walking trails and back yard.

Hello Folks,
Our villa at Herons now has a new patio on the ground level in addition to the upper deck. Patio furniture has arrived and a new gas grill is on the way and expected soon. Pro photos will follow shortly.

There is no shortage of space to get some sun or shade, our living areas face south for all day sunlight in the living, dining and kitchen. We have also equipped every room with darkening blinds and curtains, even the great room which is often overlooked because an uninterrupted rod over 12 feet is hard to find but we did!

Such a beautiful location for our villa. Blue Angel flyovers happen all the time and are thrilling- it doesn’t get old. We are located in Perdido Key, just a short drive (10-15 minutes) to the Naval Air Station and Museum in Pensacola. You can visit the Gulf Islands National seashore and see the airshows nearby or attend for free. The museum is also free and a great day of diversions. Enjoy the flyovers from above!
