What a great Wuertz Gourd Farm Festival. So many award winning art entries. Michele Halverson of the Lizard Flats Gourd Patch was very successful.

Merry Christmas! We had a great potluck with lasagna, salads, garlic bread, and wonderful desserts. Thank you to everyone who shared their baking talents. Our Show & Tell had some very special items also. Check it out.

We want to welcome everyone to our new season. Our first meeting was great. We will meet next month on November 16, 2023 at 12:30 pm. Our workshop starting at 12:30 will be on the use of mica and iridescent powders and applying gold leaf. If you are not a member, please feel welcome to join us. We meet at the Masonic Lodge, Sun City #72, on 107th Ave, just north of Union Hills. Hope to see you there.

October meeting:
Nice to be back and seeing our gourd friends.
Show and tell was good to see summer projects.
We discussed future meetings and what we wanted to accomplish this year.
Nov. Working on patchwork for our quilt.
Dec. meeting will have demos of three types of weaving.

We had a small attendance this month, but had good input for the coming years activities.
We want to check out a product called "Dragon Fly Glaze." Might have good results for use on gourds.
Oct. we will work on perfecting our "basket weave."
Nov. Learn more about weaving with pine needles.
Dec. Ornaments to show and have a gift exchange and pot luck.
During the summer we will be working on earrings, magnets and any other small items to sell at Wuertz during the Gourd Festival.
Hope everyone has a great summer.
Will showcase some of our projects during the summer.

March meeting was to work on our lizards and our Easter Bunny Baskets. More pictures to follow after next months meeting.
Also next month will be our last meeting until October. We have several "snowbirds" that will be leaving us.
Our last meeting will consist of bringing in a gourd that we might need some suggestions on how to finish. Maybe add a base or add some more color. Just needing a little help.
Everyone is welcome.
Check us out and maybe join us in the fall.

Next meeting Thursday, March 17th. Time has increased for this meeting. 11am to 3-4ish.. We will be working on our Easter baskets. If you are new to our group you may still come and participate. Always welcoming new members.
Bring a lunch or a snack and drinks.

A change for this Thurs. meeting.
We will be doing our lizard, out of Sculpey Clay. Our class will start at 11:00. Please bring a snack or lunch and something to drink.
New members--come and enjoy a class about lizards. You don't need to bring anything.

Hi everyone,
We will NOT be having our regular meeting this month on the 3rd Thur.
Instead we will be have a guest gourder with a class making a cholla carving. Anyone may participate. The class for non-members is $60.

We had a good first meeting. 10 gourders present. With one new member . Welcome Jessica DuiGiacomo. Our next meeting is temporarily set for Nov. 5 with a guest gourder.

Well, it is the end of August. We will begin our meetings again on September 16th, the third Thurs of the month at 1pm-4pm.
Hope everyone made it through the summer safe and healthy.

Tip of the month.
This is a copper scrungie. One of the tools to help you clean the yuck off of a dirty gourd.
Different ways to clean a gourd:
1. Soak in dish liquid and bleach for awhile.
2. Put damp gourd in a plastic bag for a day or two
3. Potting soil method
4. Then use the scrungie and some elbow grease to clean. Scrub-scrub-scrub.
Remember to always wear a mask when cleaning, carving, burning.
