The Menard County Historical Society is hosting an event on February 9th, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. The historian, Mr. Darren Hartry will speak on one of the most fascinating subjects concerning art, music, culture, and pre-social media venues in the United States. Yes, right here in Menard County. Chautauqua-New Salem is an absolute "jewel in the rough"! If you have ever traveled to New York and visited the current Chatauqua Institiute, you can only imagine what this once was and what it could be again. Please join us on the 9th of February to learn about society before radio, television, pod casts, TikToc, Facebook, etc. The world of Chautauqua's!
