You’ll hear loons early in the morning, see eagles soaring overhead, and may surprise an occasional deer wandering by. Nearby Eagle River boasts several blocks of charming shops and restaurants. You can rent anything you'll need for your time in the Northwoods; boats, bikes, kayaks, scooters, jet skis for summer fun and cross-country skis, snowmobiles, and snowshoes if you visit in the winter. The World Championship Snowmobile Derby is held annually each January in Eagle River, just a 20 minute drive from Ashton House. Biking, hiking, go-carts, mini golf, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, snowmobiling, golf, boating, and more are all popular activities you'll enjoy in the Northwoods. Rainy days are covered by trips to the bowling alley, children's museum, movie theater, library, or even the casino in Lac du Flambeau.
