This may be a well-known fact about Ben Franklin, but it’s significance cannot be understated! The other men who helped draft the DOI were John Adams, Robert Livingston, Roger Sherman and Thomas Jefferson.

Since Ben was known for his sense of humor, some were worried that he would try to sneak a joke into the Declaration of Independence!
