The Four Peaks mountains, located 46 miles from Phoenix, AZ, are home to the only amethyst mine in the United States โฐ
A helicopter is required to transport supplies to the mine + take mined material out. The miners live at the mine for 1-2 weeks at a time, and have to hike 9 miles roundtrip to get to work. There is no running water or electricity at the mine and hand tools must be used for the extraction of the amethyst ๐จ

Every day what we float over, how high we go, and how far we travel varies based on the day's weather conditions. Though we can't guarantee it, it is common to spot quail, coyotes, wild burros, and javelina roaming down below ๐
