So very grateful to all of the hardworking firefighters, forestry service members, EMS, volunteers and other first responders. The Hatcher Mountain Fire is now 85% contained. Here's a pic of a hot spot -- we can see the smoke from our cabin. It's been a long 3 days. I'm mentally exhausted, and that doesn't even compare to the physical exhaustion these firefighters must be facing. They are true heroes. Our hearts go out to other owners who have lost cabins in this fire. ❤

If you've never hiked Abrams Falls, I highly recommend it. It won't be the easiest 5 miles you've ever walked, but the scenery is 110% worth it!! Cades Cove is only 29 miles from the cabin and absolutely worth the day trip! ❤

We like to keep our Welcome Book very up-to-date and relevant. One local place we just experienced is Anakeesta. Wow. The views are stunning and the Fall colors really put this place on the map for me. I will be adding this to my recommendations in the Welcome Book!!

The weather in East Tennessee is pretty unpredictable. We woke up to a thin blanket of snow this morning. It's beautiful, but it was gone by noon. And tomorrow, it's supposed to be in the 50s. 🤷‍♀️ But still a great time to visit the Smokies. (Photos taken from our sister cabin, Cardinals View Lodge, which is just up the street!)

Our sister cabin, Cardinals View Lodge, is getting a much needed facelift. Part of the process is creating a blank slate. When we acquired the cabin, most of the furniture was either broken or disgusting. So we've had to spend the first couple of weeks clearing out. Now the fun can begin!!!
