we mean by "rustic"; we know you don't want any surprises, and we want you to see what you're getting! If the amazing view and the seclusion is what you're looking for, and modest accommodations are your style, then we will be a good fit. Wildlife that have been spotted on the property in recent years include black bears, rabbits, tortoises, bobcats, coyote and squirrels. There is a king bed and a full-size futon bed in the living room plus a trundle bed in the loft. Note that property has steps & stairs and is not handicap accessible. Nearest neighbor is not visible from the cabin - real seclusion all around. Property manager lives elsewhere on the property. Some things to know about the cabin...
It's a cabin in the woods. It's beautiful and serene, but nature (including bugs) are a fact of life in the woods. Happily, the paper wasps and mud daubers that are indigenous to the area are not particularly aggressive. You leave them alone, they'll leave you alone. We work to discourage them taking up residence, but they do hang about. We have made many updates to the cabin, but there are a few quirks of which you should be aware. The shower stall has a pretty low clearance. If you are over 6' , you may have to duck a bit. Up the the sleeping loft, height is an issue as well. The apex of the roof is less than 6' at the highest point in the center. We're not trying to scare you off (really!), but you should know what to expect so you won't be disappointed. If you want peace and quiet and serenity and an unbeatable view, and can live with the rustic feel, you'll have an amazing time in our little homestead. We cannot control the weather. Big storms sometimes bring branches down on the road in. We usually get those cleared within a day, but if you will be visiting the winter, we recommend snow tires or carrying tire chains.

All photos on this page were taken on the property.

History:
Our family bought this land in the 1950s and used the cabin as a vacation home for a number of years, sharing it with friends and family over numerous summers. Our grandparents retired to this home and enjoyed it for many years, welcoming grandkids in the summers. As trustees of this remarkable land, we're happy to share it with folks who want to enjoy the Smokies but escape the crowd, and who enjoy a place that's a little rustic in its offerings. Did we mention it's rustic? You might encounter nature and wildlife, but you're unlikely to encounter human visitor except by choice.
