People ask us what we did in Israel and why it was such an impactful experience, so I thought I would share what I wrote soon after coming back from 6 weeks there.
This picture of Teresa and a Palestinian grandmother in the hospital encompasses what impacted me the most. (image below) That impact came from the way our community of believers reached into the Muslim world with the love of Christ. Our Muslim neighbors were not preached at, they were not called to repent or thumped over the head with a Bible. They were loved and cared for by followers of Jesus who were volunteering their time and resources to ensure that these children - from families that are hostile toward Christianity - could get the life-saving surgery they so desperately needed.
A secondary memory was the relationship I built with Braheiem from Northern Iraq who brought his one month old son, Mohammed, for emergency surgery. He came with a fear and dislike of Christians, but left calling me his brother and our Shevet community his family.
Mischievous Maia, I loved this little girl. It was hard to see her and the other children suffer through these difficult surgeries, but we felt blessed to be a small part of their recovery. (image below)
Loved our brothers and sisters from across the globe who we worked and lived with. Two of my favorites were “Little (6’6”) John” (far left) from Indiana, and Sophia (between Teresa and me) from Germany. (image below)

If you've bought an airline ticket lately, you may think you got a good price only to realize that you can't get a pre-assigned seat, stow a bag in the overhead compartment, get complimentary coffee or soda or change your ticket. The airlines in their anti-passenger march continue to make flying less and less enjoyable as they rake in record profits. Even Southwest once the darling of travelers is no longer consumer friendly as I recently experienced. Next time you shop for an airline ticket make sure you know what you are getting. Or should I say not getting.

We get inquiries all the time from couples, and families requesting a warm, tropical and mostly affordable destination. Because there are so many places to choose from, I decided to research and post the top Caribbean destinations based on price. Obviously many factors come into play, primarily airfare which can fluctuate wildly depending on where one is flying. Therefore the cost of flying is not factored into this listing. This is based on the average nightly cost of accommodations and other land inclusions like food and activities. So with that being said, here are the top ten value Caribbean destinations:

Cuba is opening up to tourism. Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise lines are now offering 4 and 7 day sailings to this once off limits country. The poverty and oppression also make it a wide open field for humanitarian and missionary opportunities.
Let us know if you are interested in making a journey to this land that is close in distance but worlds away in lifestyle.

Anyone traveling internationally should check his/her passport expiration date. Many countries now require that your passport be valid for at least another 6 months from the time you enter the country. I had a client who wasn't allowed to board his flight for Indonesia last night even though his passport didn't expire until the end of April 2017 and he had a return ticket. Call or email us if you have a concern about an upcoming trip.
