As the sun rose on the Danube in Vilshofen, we left the beautiful AmaLea to head to Munich to fly home. What a wonderful adventure!

There are 190,000 travel advisors in the United States. At the River Cruise Expo, 1300 attendees were travel advisors.

Twelve of our own travel advisors attended this very special event, giving us the unique opportunity to spend time on SIXTEEN different ships.

🚢✨ River Cruise Stop: Regensburg, Germany

We stepped off the ship and into history in Regensburg, one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities! Our guide Sophie was fantastic!

🏰 Strolling through its charming streets felt like stepping back in time, but as a busy college town, it was so fun to see students riding their bikes and scooters around the city too!

🔹 St. Peter’s Cathedral – This stunning Gothic masterpiece dominates the skyline with its intricate details and towering spires. A true architectural gem! ⛪️

🔹 The Old Stone Bridge – Dating back to the 12th century, this iconic bridge once connected major trade routes and offers breathtaking views of the Danube. 🌉

🔹 The Historic Sausage Kitchen (Wurstkuchl) – Hungry? This legendary spot has been serving sausages for over 500 years! A must-try for a taste of Bavarian tradition. 🌭

🔹 Roman Walls & Porta Praetoria – we walked among remnants of the Roman Empire, a reminder of Regensburg’s ancient past. These stone walls have stood strong for nearly 2,000 years! 🏛️

We started our day with a guided city tour, soaking in Passau’s rich history and stunning architecture.

One of the highlights? Stepping inside St. Stephen’s Cathedral, home to one of the largest pipe organs in the world, boasting an incredible 17,974 pipes! 🎶

A few fun facts about Passau:
✨ In the 17th century, much of the city was rebuilt in the beautiful Baroque style after a devastating fire. It was started by butter in a frying pan!

🚢⚓️ Our cruise excursion to Salzburg was straight out of a storybook! With a professional guide leading the way, we strolled through this charming Austrian city, soaking in its rich history and breathtaking scenery.

🎶 Sound of Music fans - you need to go! We visited iconic filming locations, including Nonnberg Abbey, where Maria lived before joining the Von Trapp family. Walking the same streets that brought the beloved movie to life was truly magical - even where the kids sang Do Re Mi in the garden!

🥨 Along the way, we had to stop for giant, delicious pretzels, a must-try Salzburg treat.

🎼 As the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Salzburg is a music lover’s dream. We explored the historic streets that shaped one of the greatest composers of all time.

✨ We also learned about Joseph Mohr, the author of Silent Night, and saw where he was baptized.

After our guided tour, we had time to explore on our own—wandering through charming alleyways, soaking in the alpine views, and simply enjoying the magic of Salzburg. Our tours have been so enjoyable because our guides set us up for success with the walking overview before we explore on our own.

So 14 ships are all lined up in port in Vienna on the Danube River, and our meetings are onboard and we stay onboard! We stumbled upon a great little Austrian pub in Vienna! Tucked away on a side street, Bier & Bierli is so cute instead with a huge collection of beer cans and beer bottle tops! Great, friendly service - and in addition to helping us pick out local beers to try, the food was delicious. Vienna Sausages, spaetzel, and fish and chips fried in a unique pancake-like batter - sooo delicious!
