There is water at the Floral City Trailhead and a short distance south; the next source for water is further south at the Croom Rital Road Trailhead. The only rest room facilities located on the trail are at the Floral City and Croom Rital Road trailheads. There are probably facilities at Lake Towns...

There is water at the start and end of this section and also at Wallace Brooks Park in Inverness. There are also restroom facilities at each of the three trailheads. In the early morning and early evening hours, there is quite a bit of shade. If you are biking between the hours of 10AM to 4PM, sunsc...

There is water at the 3 trailheads along this portion of the ride. There are also restroom facilities at each of the three trailheads. In the early morning and early evening hours, there is quite a bit of shade. If you are biking between the hours of 10AM to 4PM, sunscreen and sunglasses would be...

South Lake Trail including West Orange Connector & North Hancock Road Trail, Clermont, Lake County,.

http://neccfl.com/wordpress/2012/05/10/south-lake-trail-including-west-orange-connector-north-hancock-road-trail-clermont-lake-county-florida/

The basics of biking in Florida apply – sunscreen, helmet, a good pair of cushioned gloves and sunglasses are all highly recommended. The trail offers a mix of open and shaded areas. If biking during the heat of the day, you will most likely get sunburned so take care to apply the suggested sunscr...

Seminole-Wekiva Trail, Altamonte Springs-Wekiva Springs-Heathrow, Seminole County, Florida

http://neccfl.com/wordpress/2012/04/08/seminole-wekiva-trail-altamonte-springs-wekiva-springs-heathrow-seminole-county-florida/

There is a lot of shade along this trail but, still, I got a little sunburned from the open areas you encounter around Lake Mary Boulevard and the business complexes you pass to the north. Sunscreen, helmet, a good pair of gloves and sunglasses are all highly recommended.

Withlacoochee Bay Trail, Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida

Very pretty little trail north of Crystal River that follows the Cross Florida Barge Canal out to Withlacoochee Bay.

This isn’t a long or taxing trail. If you are riding in the early morning or late afternoon, you won’t need sunscreen or sunglasses. The main trailhead at Fellburn Park has full facilities – restrooms, water and picnic pavillions.

Boca Grande Bicycle Path, Boca Grande, Charlotte County, Florida

Beautiful ride through Boca Grande, Florida.

This isn’t an overly long loop. From the north end to south end of Boca Grande is about 13 miles round trip. If you are doing the ride in the early morning or early evening hours, you can get by without any sunscreen.

Cape Haze Pioneer Trail, Placida, Charlotte County, Florida

Cape Haze Pioneer Trail ride this morning...it was a chilly ride!

There was very little shade along the route. Depending on your tolerance for being out in the sun, you might want to consider sunscreen if doing this trail between 10AM to 2PM. The southern end of the course is rather wet and marshy and, if you decide to stop for any length of time, insect repella...

Flagler Beach to Marineland Trail, Flagler County, Florida

Visited the east coast of Florida for a 38+ mile ride today. Nice easy ride from Flagler Beach down to the Volusia County Line and then up to Marineland and back to Flagler Beach. Awesome ride and gorgeous weather!

Except for the portion of this ride that goes through Hammock, FL, there is very little shade along this route and factilities that are not within restaurants are far and few between.

Suncoast Trail – Rester Road Educational Center – Mile 31.7 to West Bowman Road – Mile 20.3 Loop, Pa

Another fine ride along the Suncoast Trail in Pasco/Hernando counties Florida.

This third portion of the Suncoast Trail is a wee bit hillier than the previous two sections I’ve reviewed. Be prepared for a few climbs and for the overpass across Highway 50. Overall, it shouldn’t tax a cyclist in decent shape too much. Parts of the ride are well-shaded but there are open stret...

Venetian Waterway Trail – Venice, Sarasota County, Florida

Another fine Florida bicycle trail down in Venice. Goes out to Caspersen Beach on the Gulf of Mexico!

Since the majority of this trail parallels the intercoastal waterway, a good pair of sunglasses is recommended due to the water glare. If you ride the trail early in the day, sunscreen isn’t a necessity. There are several spots along the trail for water.
