Have you ever seen the Three Forks Area with a blanket of snow before? Chances are you probably haven't due to road closures during the winter months. If the timing aligns and allows, the area can be seen with snow in late autumn or early spring. The Three Forks Area is home to rare species, and hiking in the area is not permitted. However, the scenic drives are absolutely breathtaking no matter the season. It often times feels like you're on a safari with how much wildlife you can really see out here. Just daydreaming of snow, so don't mind us, haha

The Town of Pinetop-Lakeside is excited to announce a change in focus for its signature summer event, the White Mountains Balloon Festival. Beginning this year, the event now will be known as “Pinetop-Lakeside Summer Nights” and will place a larger emphasis on live music, food and retail vendors, and family fun. Pinetop-Lakeside Summer Nights will be June 20 and 21, 2025, at Mountain Meadow Recreation Complex.

“We are excited to pivot from the balloon festival to a music- and food-focused event for the entire family,” said Pinetop-Lakeside Mayor Stephanie Irwin. “The event will now be two days and will feature more bands, more food and retail vendors, a beer garden, and we plan to still include evening balloon activities.

“The biggest change with the event is the elimination of morning balloon flights. With the extremely dry conditions and the strong possibility of a forest closure that would prevent balloons from flying anyway, we think this is the right time to pivot to a new focus.”

Mayor Irwin emphasized that the evening portion of the event will be very much as it has been in previous years, but with even more bands and vendors. For more information on Summer Nights,
contact Community Services Director Tony Alba at 928-368-8696, ext. 240.

It's always a treat to see these beauties on a scenic road trip through the White Mountains. These big horn sheep roam wild and tend to make appearances up towards the Greer and Springerville areas the most.

Here they are, roadside grazing like the herbavors they are 🌾🌿

Note that it's always important to respect wildlife and not approach them.

One of the downfalls during this time of year is how early the sun goes down. This can make it feel like your day is over too soon and can affect your mood. It's important to get up and get out. Vitamin D is essential for mental and physical health, the same as exercise and breathing fresh air. It doesn't matter where you go or what trail you do. You'll definitely reap the benefits after! ☺️
